What’s with the new voiceover for Seven News Melbourne? I heard it for the first time this evening. It’s worse than the previous one.
Did the voice-over say anything different to the previous one?
Was that the great voice of John Stanton I just heard doing a Seven News ident?
The new voiceover says: “live from Melbourne, Seven News with Mike Amor, starts now.”
The old voiceover was: “live from our Melbourne headquarters, this is Seven News with Mike Amor.”
Do we need the word “starts now”?
P.S. the new voiceover sounds familiar. His voice can be heard on many commercials from 1990s to present.

I’m in the minority but I really like the “Starts Now” tags on bulletin. Gives it urgency IMO.

YES for the Third time, John Stanton is the new 7News VO.
He has been in advertising, acting and VO artist for a number of decades.

Why would 7 be using the promo which includes 9.30 news tonight, when The Latest is moving to 8.30 next week and there’s no later bulletins?
Let’s really confuse your viewers. Great way to get back to being No 1.
Stanton’s voice is a throwback to this Seven network V/O from the 90s and 2000s (coincidently the current Nine News V/O I think):
