Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

Exactly.

Every other bulletin in Australia does :disappointed:

–

In regards to Mel McLaughlin, all markets via 7Two, 7Mate & 7Flix get a national news & sport update.

It’s just the main channel that has the local updates (news, sport & weather) until around 10:30pm.

Unless it was a technical issue at BCM?

David Brown does Morning/Afternoon News weather Monday-Thursday and Angie Asimus does Fridays.

Exactly. Every other bulletin in Australia does :disappointed:
[/quote] Both Seven and Nine’s bulletins in QLD don’t have tickers so I don’t really know. What I was saying was if Seven Afternoon News Melbourne go to the trouble of modifying their ticker from the national one, why not make the weather on the ticker local too. To me, it makes sense.

At least Melbourne has a local bulletin during the afternoon.

Some markets don’t (e.g.) Sydney & Adelaide. Not sure about Perth?

Brisbane & the Gold Coast only recently got them.

I think Nine News needs to lift their game in this respect.

Sydney gets (semi) national Afternoon News bulletins from both Seven and Nine.

As far as I’m aware, Adelaide gets the semi-national edition of Seven’s Afternoon News in it’s entirety while Perth gets only the first half before going to the local edition. Of course, full local editions for Queensland and Melbourne.

I’m not sure what it’s like these days but when the local Melbourne/Queensland bulletins started a year ago there was suddenly a noticeable emphasis on Sydney/Adelaide news at the top of the national bulletin.

National in presentation but pretty local in content. Local news in Sydney has always seemed to have a more big-picture focus than in other cities anyway so I doubt the content would change much even if they did start marketing it as a local Sydney 4pm bulletin.

4:30pm news in Perth is local.

I was in Sydney for a whole week visiting family and was given the pleasure of watching Mark Ferguson present Seven News. Sydney’s number 1 news and Sydney’s number one presenter is most certainly Mark Ferguson. Sydney is making the switch. The numbers are a lot healthier for Seven News than they were a year ago. Good Work!

Everybody, please welcome Mark Ferguson to MediaSpy!

Seven News is not (yet anyway) Sydney’s #1 news in the ratings. Heck, Seven wasn’t even Sydney’s #1 network in the local ratings this year.

Never mind Peter Overton…Georgie Gardner usually outrates Mark Ferguson.

Is this satire?

Does Georgie really outrate Fergo, though? I seem to recall she loses more Fridays than she wins.

Georgie always does well on Friday/Saturdays nights. She was the clear winner against both Chris Bath and Melissa Doyle (I think Mark Ferguson when he was the weekend anchor but I am not sure about that) on Seven News along with fill-ins Chris Reason, Angie Asimus, Robert Ovadia. Yes, since Michael Usher ‘made the switch’ Seven has been winning more Fridays but only usually at 6. As you would have also seen this week, Georgie has returned Nine News Sydney to a better lead against Seven News and Mark Ferguson since she has filled-in for Overton.

Wrong.

Poor form from 7 Melbourne tonight. Victoria’s largest gold mine suspends operations with the likely loss of up to 150 jobs and not a mention. Not good enough.

Perth using Control Room/Newsroom backdrop tonight.

Still better than their loops. I would recommend such a thing for the national bulletin too (Hopefully they’re actually trying to capture a live shot of Perth so that at least it would make the crappy virtual set look better).

Does anyone have some caps of this ??

Nope, time I changed the channel it was the ad break before weather and after the weather it went straight to TT :disappointed:

Presumably it was just the usual generic backdrop used for 4.30?

Thanks :+1:
