I think Jo filled in for Rebecca Maddern. J
Jennifer Adams also filled in just before her departure.

Jo Stone
I think I recall him presenting Seven News Melbourne during the 2004-05 summer period, when the tsunami struck.
He would end up replacing Beverly O’Connor (who had replaced Jim Wilson at the end of 2003) in presenting sport on the bulletin.
Also a small glimpse of the Under the water set.
I’ve always wondered where within HSV’s studio space that temporary (I assume) setup was, if the original newsroom set was still in use for the 4:30 news.
I know when the twisted metal set was introduced in June/July 2005, it was built opposite that old set I mentioned, with the Today Tonight set being on Mitch’s left and him facing the newsroom (on the previous set it was to his right).
He’s not bad actually.

Anna Coren filling in for Naomi Robson on Today Tonight in early 2005. This edition would’ve come out of Seven’s Martin Place studios in Sydney, where Coren was based at the time (Robson was on leave at the time, and the show was otherwise produced out of the Docklands studios in Melbourne).
After Robson left the TT chair in 2006, Coren took over as host permanently and the show moved to Sydney, where it got a new set and presentation style.
Good find. That clip used to be on YouTube a few years ago, must have been reuploaded.
Sometimes sports presenters aren’t great doing news but Sandy seemed pretty decent based on that clip.
Matthew White also presented Seven News in Sydney at least once during the 2007-08 summer period, before going on to co-host the revamped Afternoon News in 2013 alongside Melissa Doyle.
I also found it odd when Beverley O’Connor replaced Jim Wilson as the sports presenter on Seven News Melbourne in 2004; her tenure did not last long and she was replaced by Sandy Roberts.
pretty sure Seven had him reading news back in the 1980s too, maybe just on weekends or filling in for other presenters. Maybe not a regular gig.
Prior to the under the Water Set. In 2004 they use to put a up a blue background screen for the 6.00pm news. This commenced at the beginning of 2004 when they updated the newsroom lighting and desk to a more darker blue colour.
I was actually talking about the Under the Water set - where it was situated within the studio space.
I also didn’t think the cardboard set (the one where they put up the blue background) didn’t fit the graphics package (before it was overhauled in August).
what does this mean, please?
20 years ago to the day yesterday
I think they are saying the presenter would sit at the desk in front of the newsroom and Seven would roll in a blue chroma key behind the presenter (in front of the newsroom)???
No. It was a blue screen that was removable between the 4.30 News and Melbournes news. It was used for Melbournes news to cover up the newsroom backdrop. It was later replaced by the so called “under the water set” towards the end of 2004.
Found a cap.
You could slightly see and hear the newsroom through the blue screen.
*Under the sea
Sorry if this has already been answered, but what was the reason for this “under the sea” set?
The newsroom backdrop was gorgeous, why’d they decide to hide it for 6PM?
