Given this VFL Preliminary Final will be between Southport Sharks and Gold Coast Suns, I wouldn’t be surprised if Seven decided to air it in Brisbane too.

Sounds interesting, if true. Also mentions the Kath & Kim special is bound for 7 too.

If Seven is keen on comedy, then it needs to show Fam Time before the end of this year to gauge audience reactions.

Looks like Seven might be looking for content after 9.00pm

Sketch comedy is a little different than a dramedy / sitcom that must have tested so poorly with audiences that they’re afraid to release it even on a streaming service, let alone linear TV.

Yay

With Tracy Grimshaw leaving ACA, 2023 is when 7 should strike and try to take over 7pm with a new nightly current affairs/news/panel show.
Launch it over summer.

I can’t see Seven taking any risks with programming now that they’ve signed this new AFL deal. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them cut back on news and current affairs further to pay for the deal. I can see a Ten style slash and burn taking place in the next eighteen months with mass redundancies and the culling of some long term talent.

What current affairs to 7 have to cut back on? since they already axed Sunday Night. I really can’t see 7 do a channel 10 style slash and burn. 7 news is the highest rating program on 7 most nights, whereas 10 news was never the highest rating show on 10 when 10 was showing the AFL at the time. 7 surely wouldn’t be stupid engouch to put their highest rating program at risk of loosing viewers.

7 News at 6pm will be protected, but questions could come up about 5am, 11.30am and 4pm bulletins.

They have to pay for these rights somehow. Spotlight and news specials can go. Perhaps they’ll axe the local weekend travel shows again. Cut back on talent and production staff for the morning shows. National daytime bulletins returning. More national reporting for the 6pm bulletins. Can’t see them expanding local news in the newly acquired Prime markets now and they’ll likely make some cutbacks there such as a cut and paste 6.30pm national news instead of the Daniel Gibson fronted service they produce now.

I could see Olympics and Cricket given to Nine/Ten, with Seven retaining just AFL/Tennis. Also, I could see local morning and afternoon news axed for a national edition, and The Latest also axed. Unfortunately I reckon some talent like David Koch and Natalie Barr would be axed from the network, and 7Regional’s 6:30 News also gone.

With programming, programs with very low ratings with high production values would be axed. Also some supply deals (Disney etc.) would disappear.
