Seven Network - Programs and Schedules

Seven bought two dramas from ITV Studios Global Entertainment at MipTV in France: The Bay and relationship thriller Gold Digger (6x60’), which stars Julia Ormond (last seen in Aussie movie Ladies in Black) and will air on BBC One in the UK.

I think @JBar was referring to the old output deals where a network signed exclusively for all/most content.

These days, as he correctly mentioned, all networks have multiple smaller deals on a ‘cherry pick’ basis.

Exactly.

Britain’s Got Talent after Easter… interesting… warming up for AGT in the last part of the year?
And how will it fit in with MKR and House Rules?

Seven has bought 6-part series Jeremy Wade’s Mighty Rivers at MipTV in France. Originally commissioned by Animal Planet for the US, Mighty Rivers debuted last year. Expect the show to be broadcast here on 7mate.

How did this show get a primetime screening? It is usually on air late Sunday mornings.

First time the Anzac Day eve AFL clash is shown live on main channel, although in WA it will remain on 7mate. Also the first time this year The Front Bar is shown on main channel in Sydney and Brisbane and in primetime.

Both of those scheduling decisions (especially the ANZAC Day eve match airing on the main channel in Sydney & Brisbane) are both interesting yet puzzling.

Seven’s decision to show a new episode of My Kitchen Rules on Easter Sunday is also interesting yet puzzling. A lot of people will be on holidays by then.

Most holiday destinations have a television.

But do they have OZTam boxes?

Exactly.

If an OzTam family from Melbourne goes on holidays to the Gold Coast for Easter, their TV viewing habits won’t be accounted for even though presumably, they’re likely to be watching Brisbane/Gold Coast TV channels at some point during the trip.

In Sydney it’s probably worse, especially since the two weeks of school holidays will coincide quite neatly with Easter & ANZAC Day. As anyone who lives in this market should know, many people here take Easter & the April school holidays as an opportunity to go up/down the coast - probably the busiest time of year for many places outside of Summer. Those who do stay in Sydney are more likely to be socialising with family/friends or spending time at that major event at Homebush than watching free to air TV, especially if the weather is good.

I will be spending Easter in Sydney. On Easter Sunday I will be at Royal Easter Show until closing time, so I won’t be able to catch up on MKR until I return to my hotel and get access to my laptop.

The event was held at Abu Dhabi from March 8 to 21. Australia won 42 gold, 44 silver and 55 bronze. ESPN provided international coverage but I am not sure if it was shown in Australia.

Strange scheduling all round here.

Rumours are circulating that MKR will be pushed back to the last quarter next year. Quite a clever idea. It would benefit from a longer break and would be ideal coming out of the Olympics.

It’s an exact copy of the strategy that The Block used a few years ago.
