Seven Network - Programs and Schedules

Arent a large chunk of 7’s midday movies made for TV jobs?

I think Channel 7’s midday movie is where most Z-grade telemovies go to die

Just out of curiosity, how long has seven been running the midday movie?

It’s all I’ve ever know in that time slot.

start dates for different states have varied but in Melbourne I think Seven has had the midday movie since the mid 1970s (although it was originally The 11.30 Movie) except for the year that they had The Bert Newton Show which bumped the midday movie to 1.30pm.

Amazing it’s lasted this long.

Ive always felt Seven would eventually move live programming into that slot one day.

And today’s “effort” was as Z Grade as they come!

Believe me, they would. They would kill to extend The Daily Edition to 3 hours starting at 12pm. Thankfully, it doesn’t rate.

I think if they thought it would work, they would extend The Morning Show to Midday and follow up with a 1 hour News program maybe air The Daily Edition at 1:30pm, with either a H&A encore or a game show as the filler at 1pm… BUT thankfully, the Seven execs know it won’t work

They must rate comparatively oaky? Loyal followers perhaps, those in nursing homes, etc?

The Midday movie is quite good today. Do we really want daytime television to be all news/talk/advertorials and encores? Daytime should be the home of live fast-tracking.

I caught a glimpse of the opening 30sec after seeing the Morning News sport/weather and got excited for a moment when I saw the title “Taken” (immediately thinking Liam Neeson’s 2008 resurgence hit), but it then had a colon with more words :pensive:

Yep, just the usual made-for-tv fluff from lifetime or whatever.

The Front Bar will be shown after House Rules in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth (moving from Thursday), according to a banner ad shown during the AFL tonight.

Why? My Green Guide, Sunday Herald Sun TV Guide and online guides all say Thursday 10:30pm after the AFL?

TNF is being played at Optus Stadium next week so due to the later start (8:10pm eastern), TFB wouldn’t have been on air until past 11pm. As a result, Seven probably thinks it’s better for it to air on Wednesday night

Also, Modern Family struggled and Splitting Up Together had a low debut on Wednesday. Seven will be hoping The Front Bar will prop up the network share.

Australia is playing Denmark in the World Cup at 10pm AEST this Thursday night so they wouldn’t want to go up against that. Besides, I think Seven want to use the ratings momentum to kill off Nine’s The Footy Show.
