Seven Network - Programs and Schedules

Personally I wouldn’t touch the 4pm news hour. It’s 3pm and 5pm that need the most attention.

I would trial in the 3pm slot for the rest of the year some different UK shows. Cycle through some and see which one resonates best with viewers and commission a local version for 5pm for 2026.

Some of the most current shows are:

Riddiculous
Wheel of Fortune
Limitless Win and
Catchphrase

Whichever one seems to be the most popular gets a local version at 5pm.

As TVCynic says, it’s likely to be a mix of cost-cutting and advertorial revenue re: Daily Edition if it happens. I don’t really buy the article saying it’s to help their 5pm slot

Seven alas don’t have the money to go buying multiple formats to put at 3pm (NB they did try Catchphrase at 2pm but no ratings boost). They seemingly can’t even afford current Chase UK shows (still running 2017/18 repeats at 3pm)

Fair to say they are in one heck of a bind

David Johnson already had a national profile from Ten’s Morning News and Meet The Press in the 90s.

I would prefer they just extend The Afternoon News (local edition) from 3.00-5.00pm. Obviously, it would be split into 4 x 30 minute rundowns each half hour.

Could Seven consider moving Larry and Kylie to 3pm-5pm? Rebrand The Morning Show into The Afternoon Show, and give it a bit more of a news and current affair focus rather than entertainment, but the chemistry and experience of Larry and Kylie would be the overall appeal of course.

You wish. Why would they blow up the winning team in the winning timeslot?

Because the lead-in to primetime is more than important than a late morning/daytime slot?

Not if they end up blowing both in one go.

The official AFL broadcast guide has the Gold Coast V Hawthorn game on Channel 7 in QLD, not 7mate. Either they are wrong, or this 7 broadcast guide is

That’s the latest schedule supplied from Seven for Brisbane and Queensland. If there is any change that will be advised.

Half a century, a whole lot of Cold Chisel

Cold Chisel: The Big Five-O celebrates Australia’s most iconic rock band

Crank the volume, raise a glass, and get ready to belt out the soundtrack of a nation when the brand-new feature documentary, Cold Chisel: The Big Five-O, premieres 8.00pm Sunday on Seven and 7plus.

Celebrating five decades of iconic anthems that have been burned into Aussie culture forever – including Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, Choirgirl and When The War Is Over – Cold Chisel has defined what it means to be Australian. Now their story takes centre stage.

Cold Chisel: The Big Five-O captures the energy and power of the band’s recent Big Five-0 tour, seen by more than 250,000 people across the country. Filmed on a blistering night at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the documentary delivers a front-row seat to a night of electrifying moments as a sea of impassioned fans sings along to every word, creating a thunderous chorus that drowns out even the band itself. It is a concert full of incredible emotion, raw power, and more than a few tears.

From Adelaide’s Largs Pier Hotel to the biggest stages in the country, Cold Chisel forged their own path, earning their place as true Aussie rock royalty and making household names of Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Don Walker, Steve Prestwich and Phil Small. The exclusive interviews, archive footage and rare photographs from the band, helps explore the lasting impact of Cold Chisel, and uncovers why their music continues to mean so much to so many.

Cold Chisel: The Big Five-O is a Beyond Productions feature documentary produced in association with the Seven Network.

Writer/producer Paul Clarke is a renowned filmmaker with previous award-winning and celebrated work including the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Award-winning documentary John Farnham: Finding The Voice, Midnight Oil: The Hardest Line and Blood and Thunder.

Directed by Andrew Lord (Splendour in the Grass), the film is also produced by Frank Chidiac ( Live it Up: The Mental as Anything Story , Great Australian Concerts) and Susanne Morrison ( Live it Up: The Mental as Anything Story , Great Australian Concerts), line produced by Fiona Hewish, with Mikael Borglund and Robert Hambling as executive producers.

Cold Chisel: The Big Five-O Premieres 8.00pm Sunday, 11 May on Seven and 7plus

So Adelaide fans will need to wait until after midnight to watch a replay of the Crows game on FTA? I think this schedule contravenes the broadcast agreement.

Think it’s clearly a typo issue.

Pair Alex Cullen with Mel Doyle (I live in hope she’ll return to news/public affairs type program at some stage).

3pm–5pm?
What (if anything) would replace The Chase?

A better option might be to revive 11am with Larry and Kylie, then fill the post-Sunrise window with encore programming from the previous evening. From there, launch an NBC News Daily-style format in the 2pm–4pm slot, keep News at 4pm, introduce a new game show at 5pm (a revival of The Rich List?), and follow with a Project-style current affairs show at 7pm.

Or… don’t touch what is working and leave the mornings well enough alone!
