C21 reports Seven has acquired Flesh & Blood, a four-part ā€œfamily drama meets contemporary thrillerā€ from Silverlight Pictures starring Imelda Staunton (who will play Queen Elizabeth II in the final season of The Crown) and Russell Tovey. Flesh & Blood will premiere on ITV in Britain later this year.

Wow, just no.

I agree… an even worse idea then reviving Farmer, AGT and BB. :zipper_mouth_face:

Really clutching the straws here.

Any ounce of creativity Seven? Not really.

To be honest I would like to see Oz Idol back but I can’t imagine it not being on Ten…

what day in Australia?

I find it interesting that seven have had the option to revive it for over a year. Seven are making the same mistake 10 did last year by reviving too many heritage shows. So I really don’t think they should revive it either. I guess the issue is that last year they were really considering this, perhaps they considered it if AGT really tanked?

Not defending them but they need a big worldwide format that’ll get people watching. There’s pretty much nothing left since Nine and 10 have picked all of them up, and drama presents an expensive risk for them that might send their viewers to a point of no return.

Having said that, I would still hate to see them recycling dead formats.

For a moment there, I thought today was the 1st of April rather than the 14th of February!

Of course I agree with everyone who thinks the idea of Seven reviving Australian Idol is a really bad one. Instead of reviving former Nine/Ten reality shows, how about rebooting one of the iconic Seven Network dramas of yesteryear or better still, commissioning a completely new programming format?!

A Sons and Daughters reboot? The basic story from the first few months as a mini-series with a 2020 setting.

How about a drama series about Ambos/Paramedics? Sitting somewhere between Police Rescue and All Saints.

I would love a new version (or even reboot) of A Country Practice.

If they want to do drama then they should do new dramas based off Blue Heelers, All Saints and Always Greener to get some familiarity to the audience. Enough of female-skewing love dramas.

I’d rather they didn’t reboot though. Try something new in the same genre.

Sorry for the confusion, I was meaning new versions of shows based on those dramas. A cop/action drama, medical/investigative drama, and a family drama.

Does anyone have any insight into what the order of artists for the Fire Fight Australia concert might be? Sam and Kochie said today the afternoon would have something for the younger audience and then it will really kick in later… but I wonder if that’s 7pm? (AEDT of course).

It’s not just Seven though. All three commercial networks have only really comissioned female-skewing, loved-themed drama programs in recent years.

BTW, I actually agree that it’d be better to come up with a completely new program in the same genres rather than doing a straight reboot of Blue Heelers, All Saints or whatever.

Same, why does seven have the option, and not 10?
