It’s technically the third.

The Flying Doctors had a reboot for its final season and it was actually called RFDS too. They need a better title because that spinoff was axed after one season, so you wouldn’t want people making that comparison.

Why do they keep trying to reboot these old dramas? Are there really no other ideas out there?

You could even argue it is the fourth reboot considering it was initially a mini series and Nine decided to proceed with an ongoing series following its success.

Yeah. Nah. The series was pretty much an extension of the mini-series with many characters continuing on.

RFDS was a complete overhaul. It was technically a spinoff. They filmed it in a different location and had almost a completely new cast. I think the only characters who varied over where Maurie Fields and Val Jellay running the pub.
