Seven Cricket Coverage

I hope any potential boycott won’t affect Seven’s coverage of home internationals.

The first license will be held by the merged team to be owned by Cricket Victoria, operating under the banner of “Melbourne” until a permanent team name is announced.

The second license is expected to be auctioned to interested parties, subject to Cricket Australia approval. The successful bidder will have the right to determine the team’s name and home venue(s), although Cricket Victoria will reportedly require the franchise to also be based in Melbourne.

A Twenty20 series against Bangladesh has been the victim of a scheduling crunch which will now also lead to Melbourne hosting as many as seven days of international cricket in an eight-day period.

The ICC’s decision to shift the inaugural women’s Champions Trophy from June to February next year has forced Cricket Australia into rejigging its women’s international schedule for 2026-27.

New Zealand, which had initially been due to tour across the back end of February and early March, will now split its women’s international series against the Aussies.

Three T20s between the nations will now be played at North Sydney Oval in a five-day window from October 18 before the start of the Women’s Big Bash League season.

The White Ferns will then return in March for three one-day internationals beginning in Canberra on March 6. The second of those games will be on the Labor Day public holiday at Melbourne’s Junction Oval, coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8.

Bangladesh’s women will still play three ODIs against the Aussies in October in Brisbane, but three T20s between those sides have been scrapped under the revised schedule.

The third ODI (between Australia and NZ women’s teams) will be played on March 10, the day before the 150th Anniversary Test begins at the MCG.

Huge four days of cricket for Seven, March 10 to 13.

No, I don’t think the anniversary test is going five either.
