Starc was great for the ODI series. 7 should definitely sign him up for other commentary opportunities when Starc is available and not let Fox take him.
Women’s Test to round out Summer of Cricket
Australia v India, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport
Following a monumental summer of cricket, the 2025-26 season is set to officially conclude in spectacular fashion as Australia takes on India in the women’s day-night test from the WACA from 3.30pm AEDT tomorrow, live and free on Seven, 7mate, 7two and 7plus Sport.
After a 3-0 One Day International (ODI) series sweep and outgoing captain Alyssa Healy’s huge 158 runs in Hobart, the Aussies will be looking to continue their winning ways and assert their dominance in the one-off Test match and final match between the two teams, currently leading 8-4 in the overall series trophy and already having secured the series win.
It has been a seesaw affair between the two teams in the multi-format series, with India getting off to a hot start winning the T20 leg 2-1, before the Aussies hit back in emphatic fashion in the ODI series, winning 3-0.
The one-off Test match will be Alyssa Healy’s final match for Australia following a remarkable 15-year career where she established herself as one of Australia’s greatest ever cricketers.
Healy is renowned for standing up in the moments that mattered most, including receiving player in the match in both the 2020 T20 World Cup Final and the 2022 ODI World Cup Final for game-winning knocks in both.
Seven’s coverage will be steered by host Emma Freedman, with expert and play-by-play commentary from a star-studded team including former Australian men’s cricket coach Justin Langer, Lisa Sthalekar, Katey Martin, Trent Copeland, Andy Maher, Kate McCarthy, Elyse Villani and Bharat Sundaresan.
The match will commence on Friday, 6 March, from 3.30pm AEDT, with coverage to start on the remaining days from 4.00pm AEDT.
Seven Network Executive Producer, Cricket, Anna Stone said: “It has been an unbelievable summer of cricket with the WBBL, The Ashes, the BBL and the Women’s International multi-format series against India. The day-night test in Perth feels like the perfect way to celebrate and farewell an icon of the women’s game in Alyssa Healy.
“We have had a record-breaking summer of cricket at Seven with the average total TV audience for The Ashes up 12% compared to the 2024-25 Australia v India Test, while the BBL was up 9% and the WBBL was up 28% year-on-year.
“We’re thrilled to be able to continue to bring fans the absolute best cricket coverage possible and can’t wait to see what unfolds in the final match of the summer starting Friday,” she said.
The winner of the 2026 Belinda Clark Award, Annabel Sutherland, returns to her happy hunting ground at the WACA. In 2024 she scored a double century at the venue against South Africa. In that innings, Sutherland became just the fifth Australian woman to score 200 in a Test, with her 210 off 254. She also is the first women to ever score a Test century at the MCG, which she did during last year’s Ashes.

Women’s Test Match: Australia v India
3.30pm AEDT tomorrow, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport
Test cricket ending early. Seems like something we’ve seen a few times late last year.
At least it’s on 7mate so it doesn’t matter what they air instead for the next 6 hours.
7two also retain programming in Syd/Bri/Per.
7’s summer of cricket will begin 9th October with 3 Women’s ODI & T20 vs Bangladesh.
I’m not counting the August winter Men’s Test series as part of the summer ![]()
Men’s summer on 7 will begin 9th November with the West Test of the NZ series
The afternoon session of the second women’s ODI on October 11 will clash against Bathurst 1000 on the main channel.
Actually its 9 December that the West test starts 4 tests back to back over 31 days as per Cricket Australia men’s schedule
Yes that’s correct. Meant to say December to November
Seven’s press release on the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games mentions test cricket series against Bangladesh in August.
With Seven’s international cricket coverage beginning in August this year, Morris will assume the chief cricket reporter role for the network’s broadcast of the Australia v Bangladesh series in Darwin and Mackay, from Sunday, August 13.
Morris’ role will also continue for Seven’s Test and Big Bash League coverage for the 2026-27 Summer of Cricket on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Seven’s head of cricket, Joel Starcevic, said: “With an incredible year of cricket set to take place on Seven and 7plus Sport, we couldn’t be more excited to add Tom’s cricket nous to the coverage.
“With a two-Test Series against Bangladesh in the Northern Territory and Queensland in August, all before an epic Summer of Cricket, Tom will fit seamlessly into cricket’s No.1 commentary team and we look forward to hearing his expert commentary and ancillary reporting in our live match broadcast of Test cricket and the Big Bash League.”
Seven will further strengthen its cricket offering this summer, with SEN’s podcast The New Ball, hosted by Morris and fellow cricket reporter Bharat Sundaresan, to be simulcast on 7mate and streamed live on 7plus Sport daily before play of the Australia v New Zealand Test Series, throughout the Summer of Cricket.
Wonder what Morris becoming Seven’s ‘Chief Cricket Reporter’ means for Peter Lalor who has held that role for the last few summers?
He will probably still do segments during the test matches but Morris will be the main news breaker. And do some commentary too.
Also Lalor never did any news or other things for 7. It just segments during the test matches.
Suhandersen will replace Lalor
Morris will also appear on Seven’s upcoming 2026-27 Australian summer of cricket coverage, where he will resume the role of Chief Cricket Reporter.
SEG can also confirm that The New Ball – Morris’ weekly cricket analysis show with Bharat Sundaresan, which is currently heard across the SEN network on Tuesday evenings – will be simulcast on 7mate and 7plus during 7Cricket’s 2026-27 Australian summer of cricket.
The New Ball - which combines cricket news, analysis and interviews with fun, lighthearted banter - can be viewed as well as listened to the day prior and during each day of the Australian men’s Test matches v New Zealand in December 2026 and January 2027.
Channel 7 integrating with SEN for Cricket programming. But it also will be interesting what collaborations they do with Triple M’s cricket coverage across the 2026-27 summer.
Just watching back some old clips from Seven’s coverage pre-COVID, back when they used the “studio” setup in the stadiums for breaks a lot more than currently, and Mel was just so much better - natural’s probably the right word - sitting on the couch with a couple of experts talking through points than it seems standing on the boundary line.
