Seven Cricket Coverage

They might move the ODI to the main channel and run repeats on 7mate.

Barely 90min on Day 3! Essentially was a 2 day test… Well done to our Aussies, but I was only joking with this: :joy:

Probably off topic, but I think T20 has a lot to answer for with Test matches often being so short these days…

Whilst it’s (kind of great) that T20 shots like the ramp and scoop shots have crossed over into Tests, players just don’t know how to bat properly anymore.

The women’s ODI is staying on 7mate.

Interestingly, Mel McLaughlin made no reference to this match at the end of the main channel’s test cricket broadcast at 5pm AEDT. She could have told viewers of a score update and that the match is still on 7mate if they are interested.

She doesn’t care and wouldn’t know it was on if she hadn’t been told.

Going on about “Perry with another big century” when it’s just her 5th in international cricket… not mentioning the 2nd gamer Voll’s century either.

Yes. A point that Ravi Shastri made last night in commenting that none of McSweeney’s shots had been in the Vee.

This was posted on 7cricket Twitter but I don’t think it was broadcast on tv and I don’t think there was a 7+ stream of the post match extra stuff. So I wonder why they conducted the interview (maybe for the extras part of 7+ cricket but I doubt people actually watch those)

Doesn’t Copes have his “Post Session” 7Plus show?

I believe Seven are moving the Women’s ODI on Wednesday to 7mate and all markets will get the Perth line-up including the season final of Beat the Chasers

How many hours will the third test deliver for Seven.

Will weather be a factor this time.

20% chance of rain on day 1 and 30% on the rest of the test days :cloud_with_rain:

Day 1 is expected to proceed without major disruptions, with only a slight chance of rain.
There’s a slight increase in rain probability for Day 2, but no significant interruptions are expected.
Day 3 brings similar conditions to Day 2, with minimal rain chances and light winds.
Slight chances of showers persist on Day 4, but the match is unlikely to face significant interruptions.
Day 5 ???

What does 7+ do when there’s rain delays?

I suppose they’ve got about six years of worth coverage to show replays of… but it’s not as if they can go back in the archives or anything.

I was watching this old test from season 85/86 on Kayo… Gavaskar and Srikkanth put on 191 for the first wicket, then when Boon and Marsh came out, they had an opening partnership of 217!!! That’s the type of stuff worth watching during a rain delay…

What makes you say that? Does 7 not have access to Cricket Australia’s archive?

I honestly don’t know tbh. But I’m guessing the only thing in the Cricket Australia Archive is a few old ABC showreels.

They have the channel 9 library as you see on the Cricket Australia ‘Cricket Gold’ YouTube channel.

Real question here is will 7 run out of filler shows to show if they burn through them if there’s ANOTHER test match cut short due to weather or teams losing badly.

Stumped!
Probably the best thing on the 7+ coverage.

BBL 14 smashes onto Seven and 7plus Sport

Ponting, Langer, Finch headline huge BBL summer

On the eve of its 14th season, the Seven Network’s Big Bash League (BBL) commentary team is primed to bring fans an epic six-week long tournament of the world’s most exciting cricket competition.

BBL 14 will start with a bang on Sunday, 15 December, straight after Day Two of the Brisbane Test, with a blockbuster week of cricket featuring four nights of prime-time BBL action immediately after stumps at the Gabba, led by cricket’s most astute commentator, Ricky Ponting, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.

On 12 days of the season, live and free BBL matches will follow stumps in Australia’s Test series, including two mega days featuring back-to-back BBL clashes on top of a full day’s play on Day One of the Boxing Day and Sydney Tests.

The home and away fixture concludes on Sunday, 19 January with a huge match at the MCG between the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes.

The four-match finals series begins on Tuesday, 21 January, all in prime time, with the all-important Final scheduled for Monday, 27 January.

A procession of former on-field stars will also return to Seven’s BBL coverage as expert commentators (alongside Ponting, Langer and Finch) including Sunil Gavaskar, Greg Blewett, Matthew Hayden, Trent Copeland, Callum Ferguson, Damien Fleming, Brad Hodge and Simon Katich.

Leading Seven sport presenters James Brayshaw, Emma Freedman, Jason Richardson, Erin Holland, Andy Maher and Alister Nicholson will also return to Seven’s coverage.

Current stars Chris Green, Glenn Maxwell and Sam Billings will be regulars on Seven’s live and free BBL coverage, while 7NEWS sport reporters Theo Doropoulos and Anna Hay will feature in their local states.
Seven cricket commentator Aaron Finch said: “Summer isn’t summer without the Big Bash, and this year’s competition will be huge.

"The BBL is in a league of its own. Nowhere else do you see such high energy from the players and fans alike, paired with world-class talent from all over the globe. It’s a unique spectacle and we absolutely love it.

“The best thing about BBL is the unpredictability of the season. Will the Heat go again and claim the victory two years in a row, or will we see the Sixers fight back after their disappointing loss in last year’s Final?” he said.

“Only time will tell, and we will have all the biggest and best moments live and free all summer long on Seven and 7plus Sport.”

Throughout the BBL 14, cricket fans will once again be treated to Seven’s The Spin, hosted by Lisa Sthalekar, Jason Richardson and Brad Hodge and some very special guests, every Thursday on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Seven Network Head of Cricket, Joel Starcevic, said: “Ahead of another epic season of Big Bash, Seven has put together an unbeatable commentary team, which welcomes former Renegades captain Aaron Finch alongside Australia’s biggest names in cricket.

“The world’s best cricket commentator, Ricky Ponting, will headline the action, calling the first four games of the season and setting the tone for a spectacular summer of cricket. He will be joined on night one in Perth by former Scorchers coach and 7Cricket expert, Justin Langer.

“Fans are in for a treat this summer, with Seven bringing back the Toyota Player Mic to bring viewers closer to the action on the field and showcase the personalities of the league’s biggest stars,” he said.

“This season, Seven will also introduce a brand-new BBL graphics package with a dynamic video game-inspired design that we know will resonate with viewers of all ages. Plus, the Power Surge has been a game-changer for the BBL and this year it’s going up a notch, with crowds playing a pivotal role in amplifying the excitement during the in-stadium activations.”

Seven Network Director of Sport, Chris Jones said: “The Big Bash League is one of the most exciting sport properties globally, and we cannot wait to deliver 34 prime-time nights to all Australians live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.

“This season, for the first time, viewers can tune into 7plus Sport during select games to hear an alternate commentary from cricket’s best comedians, The Grade Cricketer, for a more light-hearted look at the game we all love.

“The summer of cricket is off to a cracking start and we’re only just getting started. With the Women’s Ashes set to start on 12 January before culminating in an epic day/night Test at the MCG, there has truly never been a better summer on Seven and 7plus.”

With wall-to-wall coverage, 7plus Sport is the ultimate destination for BBL fans. With match replays on-demand, highlights from every BBL game, 20-minute minis, player interviews, exclusive content and more, viewers can tune into the 7plus Cricket Hub for 24/7 cricket content all summer long.

So I guess that means Ponting won’t feature on the Third Test at the GABBA between Australia and India if he is covering Big Bash during that period instead.

I wonder why they did say this for the WBBL press release given I think it will be the same graphics.
