It all starts on Friday, 22 November when India face Australia at Perth Stadium for the West Test from 12.30pm AEDT live and free on Channel 7 and 7plus Sport.

Seven Network Director of Sport, Chris Jones, said: “Seven’s Summer of Cricket is already off to a cracking start, with the WBBL getting closer to the all-important Final on Sunday, 1 December after a spectacular start to the season.

“As we await the start of the greatest Test rivalry between two giants of world cricket, a fiery Big Bash League season, a Women’s International Series against India, and a Women’s Ashes on home soil, this Summer of Cricket will be better than ever – and Seven has assembled a world-class commentary team to match,” he said.

“With Ricky Ponting at the helm of Seven’s commentary – paired with Sunil Gavaskar, Aaron Finch, Mitchell Starc, Alex Hartley and Rachel Khawaja – we couldn’t think of a stronger lineup of experts to deliver the greatest Summer in recent history on Seven and 7plus Sport.

“For our first Summer of Cricket on 7plus Sport, Seven has introduced two distinct alternative commentaries: the first is Hindi commentary for all Australia vs India Test matches, making the game more accessible than ever before,” Mr Jones said.

“The second alternative commentary will be from The Grade Cricketer and will cover a selection of BBL matches, with a funny and light-hearted take on the games.

“There is something for everyone this summer and you can see it all live and free, on Seven and, for the first time, 7plus Sport.”

Seven Network Head of Cricket, Joel Starcevic, said: “As we embark on an incredible five- test series between two international giants of cricket, it’s hard to ignore the fact that it may be our last time to watch this generation of cricketers square off against each other on Australian soil.

“Sharma, Kohli, Ashwin, Smith, Lyon and Khawaja – the rockstars of world cricket, heading toward the twilight of their careers, all on the biggest stage for a five-test Series like no other. It doesn’t get much bigger than that,” he said.

“With the WBBL Final a little over two weeks away, before a fiery men’s BBL 14 kicks off on Sunday, 15 December, Seven’s team is on deck to deliver every big hit, spectacular catch, and unforgettable moment straight to your living room live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport all summer long.

“Then, from Thursday, 5 December, our nation’s most loved team – the Australian women’s cricket team – embark on a three-match ODI Series against India, before the ultimate test, a home Ashes Series in some of the country’s biggest and most iconic stadiums from Sunday, 12 January 2025,” Mr Starcevic said.

“With world-class quality cricket, analysis and commentary for the next 11 weeks, there’s nowhere else to be this summer than right here on Seven and 7plus Sport.”

TEST CRICKET

The ultimate showdown is coming to Aussie soil as cricketing giants Australia and India prepare to face off in an unforgettable five-match Test series, live and free on Seven and for the first time, streaming on 7plus Sport.

From the opening day of the first Test at Perth Stadium on Friday, 22 November, cricket’s #1 commentary team will be bolstered by the arrival of Indian cricket legend and master opening batsman, Sunil Gavaskar.

Adored for his articulate commentary and deep understanding of the game, Gavaskar will join Seven’s coverage for all five Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series, as the travelling side look to clinch the victory from Australia following their historic upset in 2020-21.

Gavaskar said: “Over the past 15-20 years or so, I think the Australia v India Series has become more iconic. In the 1990s, it was pretty one-sided with Australia beating India quite comfortably.

“In the past 15 years or so, India have stood up. India have been able to get one back against Australia,” he said.

“Winning a Test in Australia was not easy, but India did that. Now, it has become one of the most looked forward to Series in the game.

“There has been a change in the attitude of both the teams and I think the IPL has had a great role to play in that. [The IPL] has brought players from all different countries into the one changeroom, with all the franchises, so people have begun to understand each other,” he said.

“What has happened, which is fantastic, is that the animosity has gone out of it, but the intensity is still there.”

In a bonus for Indian cricket fans in Australia, Seven has announced a secondary Hindi feed will be available every day of the Australia v India Test Series on 7plus Sport.

Seven commentator Ricky Ponting said: “The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is one of the most fiercely contested series in world cricket. It’s a rivalry that’s built on rich history, talent, and sheer determination, and both sides always rise to the occasion.

“As we get closer to the start of the Test summer, Australia’s team looks more settled and experienced, and despite India winning the past two series here, they are tough to beat at home. With that in mind, I’d lean towards Australia for the series win,” he said.

“As for Virat Kohli, his record in Australia speaks for itself. While he has been far from his best in recent times, if there’s ever a time to turn around his form, it’s now in the Border- Gavaskar Trophy.

“In terms of standouts, I think we’ll see a middle-order batsman claim the most runs this series, likely either Steve Smith or Rishabh Pant,” Ponting said.

“For the leading wicket-taker, I’d pick Josh Hazlewood. He’s at the peak of his form, and with five back-to-back Tests, he’s likely to play all of them.

“Australia are a dominant force on home soil – they know the conditions, they have the crowd behind them, and they’re incredibly tough to beat here. But we all remember the last time India came to Australia. Anything can happen, which is what makes this series so exciting,” he said.

“With both teams hungry for victory, we’re in for another thrilling chapter in this storied rivalry, and Australians can see every ball live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.”

BIG BASH LEAGUE

Across 34 prime-time nights, including all four finals, Seven and 7plus Sport will deliver every heart-racing moment of cricket’s most exciting competition, live and free to Australians across the entire nation.

BBL 14 will start with a bang on Sunday, 15 December, straight after Day Two of the Brisbane Test, with a blockbuster week of cricket featuring four nights of prime-time BBL coverage immediately after stumps at the Gabba.

On 12 days of the season, live and free BBL matches will follow stumps in Australia’s Test series, including two mega days featuring back-to-back BBL clashes on top of a full day’s play on Day One of the Boxing Day and Sydney Tests.

The home and away fixture concludes on Sunday, 19 January with a huge match at the MCG between the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes.

The four-match finals series begins on Tuesday, 21 January, all in prime time, with the all- important Final scheduled for Monday, 27 January.

Throughout the BBL 14, cricket fans will once again be treated to Seven’s The Spin, hosted by Lisa Sthalekar, Jason Richardson and Brad Hodge and some very special guests, every Thursday on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Ahead of the season, Seven cricket commentator Aaron Finch said: “Summer isn’t summer without the Big Bash, and this year’s competition will be huge.

"The BBL is in a league of its own. Nowhere else do you see such high energy from the players and fans alike, paired with world-class talent from all over the globe. It’s a unique spectacle and we absolutely love it,” he said.

“The best thing about BBL is the unpredictability of the season. Will the Heat go again and claim the victory two years in a row, or will we see the Sixers fight back after their disappointing loss in last year’s Final?,” he said.

“Only time will tell, and we will have all the biggest and best moments live and free all summer long on Seven and 7plus Sport.”

WOMEN’S ONE DAY INTERNATIONALS

From Thursday, 5 December, on the eve of the men’s Adelaide Test, Australia’s most-loved sports team will be back on the world stage for the Australia v India International Series.

With three ODIs in Brisbane and Perth, Alyssa Healy’s adored team of Aussies will look to continue their incredibly strong form on the world stage over two weeks of women’s cricket action.

Seven’s commentary team will broadcast live from Allan Border Field and the WACA for the three ODIs including Lisa Sthalekar, Kirby Short, Holly Ferling, Andy Maher, Emma Freedman, Elyse Villani, Jason Behrendorff and Anna Hay.

Former Australian cricketer and Seven cricket expert commentator, Holly Ferling, said:

“There is no love lost between Australia and India. The battles in recent times have been fierce, but now even more so as the next generation try to leave their mark on the game.

“Unlike some of their previous Series in Australia, there will be familiarity for the Indian side in our conditions. Several of the squad have been playing in the WBBL, while a number of the squad played a multi format series against Australia A in August,” she said.

“While it’s an advantage for India, Australia were keeping an eye on key batters and bowlers and taking notes.

“Priya Mishra is poised to have a big impact with the ball after dominating the ‘A’ series. For Australia, Phoebe Litchfield has loved playing India over the past 12 months in this format, including two Player of the Match honours. Coming off a big WBBL leading her Sydney Thunder team, I’m expecting her to use that perspective she’s gained to free herself up and go to another level in this series,” Ferling said.

“Australia’s strength is, and always has been, its depth. It’s an opposition’s nightmare. A team full of batting and bowling allrounders means Alyssa Healy has every option covered and at her disposal.

“For India, they have some of the world’s best batters – Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. They have a fearless aura to them, and if they get a moment to put the Aussies under pressure, they won’t miss,” she said.

“Australia will be looking to make amends after the T20 World Cup results, and this series is their opportunity to leave a statement.”

WOMEN’S ASHES SERIES

Following an International Series against India, Captain Alyssa Healy will again lead out our national women’s team as they seek to retain the ultimate prize – The Ashes.

The action begins with the ODI leg starting at North Sydney Oval on Sunday, 12 January, followed by games at CitiPower Centre and Blundstone Arena on 14 and 17 January. Then, the action will head to stadia for the first of three T20Is, to be played at the SCG on Monday, 20 January, followed by matches at Manuka Oval and Adelaide Oval on 23 and 25 January respectively.

The series will culminate with a four-day pink-ball Test at the MCG from 30 January to 2 February, which will mark the 90th anniversary of the first women’s Test.

In exciting news for fans, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc will join Seven’s commentary team for the ODI and T20I matches as his wife, Alyssa Healy, leads the Aussies onto the pitch.

Starc will be joined by cricket’s #1 commentary team which includes Lisa Sthalekar, Erin Holland, Andy Maher, Alex Hartley, Katey Martin, Alister Nicholson, Jason Richardson and Trent Copeland.

Simon Taufel – Expert Analyst

After his career as a fast-medium bowler was cut short by injury, Taufel moved into umpiring, progressing so quickly through the ranks he made his first-class debut in 1994 aged just 24. By the time he retired in 2012, he was widely considered the best umpire of his generation after an international career that spanned 74 Tests, 174 ODIs and 34 T20s. He won five consecutive ICC Umpire of the Year awards from 2004 to 2008, and later worked as the ICC’s Umpire Performance and Training Manager. This summer, Taufel returns to Seven’s Test team, where viewers will enjoy his expert insights into contentious umpiring decisions.

Elyse Villani – Expert Commentator

Top-order bat Elyse Villani’s clean hitting and impeccable timing have seen her grow into one of the most damaging batters in women’s cricket. Villani has enjoyed great success with the Australian Women’s cricket team, helping them to lift the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 trophy in the West Indies in 2010. Currently the captain of the Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL, Villani stepped behind the microphone for Seven’s 2023 WBBL coverage and will continue her role across Seven’s WBBL telecast.

Home & Away returns Jan 13th, which coincides with BBL matches switching its starting time from 7:15pm AEDT to 7:30pm AEDT to finish the regular season (4 matches).

However, the finals series, which has matches Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd & the Grand Final Monday 27th are scheduled to be 7:15pm AEDT.

They did show H&A on 7two during Thursday night matches of AFL & since their relationship with CA is now better, they will probably do the same rather than the last BBL seasons where they showed the start of BBL matches on 7mate while 7 showed H&A

Seven confirmed today that Langer and Ponting would only be able to commentate the opening day of the test series on Friday, so they can attend the IPL player auction. Cricket Australia confirmed separately that bowling coach of the Australian men’s team, Daniel Vettori, would miss the game entirely, in order to get to Jeddah ahead of the auction.

“It’s the worst possible case scenario for me and J.L. [Langer],” Ponting told this masthead. “We for the last couple of months felt that it was probably going to be in the gap between the Test matches. It takes all the pressure off the players from both teams. There are a lot of players in both teams in the auction.

“I’m calling the first day then flying out late Friday night to Jeddah. The auction is the 24th and 25th, and then depending on how we’re going through our auction, we’ll see when I can return. Hopefully, I’ll get back for the end of Perth, and if not I’ll be back on deck for the start of Adelaide.”

It’s the same ones they used for women’s internationals in Oct but adapted to Test cricket with more white

These are the graphics from the Hindi Feed on 7+ which is the same feed that Fox cricket Hindi feed has. I think it’s the Star Sports graphics not Fox cricket graphics (which I expected since Fox is the world feed)

End of Innings at 6:10 AEDT. Good timing for Sydney and Melbourne, less so for Adelaide and Brisbane.
