Seven Cricket Coverage

Interesting tonight’s BBL/WBBL season preview has a normal 7 watermark on the bottom right rather than on the top right. I wonder if this show was taped on Sunday after the player draft?

People might disagree, but one can’t deny Seven’s commitment and effort for their cricket, fees and contract aside, for all the issues a couple of years ago between them and CA and a perception perhaps they didn’t want it or all of it even (possibly differing views from various divisions at SWM)… Also speaks to Seven Sport’s legacy in sports broadcasting in Australia. Yes vs Fox Cricket and the like. IMO.

2018 was a long time ago now, there’s been multiple management and board shake-ups at all parties (bar TA)… I think Seven & Nine and CA & TA have all moved on, cemented and are now fully realising their current and most likely (for now) long-term major/nationally-appealing/summer sporting futures.

Yeah was recorded post-draft in the same studio.

They really shouldn’t be using Trent for BBL stuff, given he is GM of the Thunder.

During commentary he mostly does Test doesn’t he?

Yeah but either way he’s involved here.

Why did it air this early? Seems like such an odd choice given WBBL doesn’t start until end of October & BBL until December.

Could of aired/worked well after the last WT20 vs NZ on 24th Sep which would be around 1 month before the start of WBBL

I guess Seven wanted to use the lead in from the AFL to promote their cricket coverage.

Absolutely agree with this.

The best summer of cricket is here

Aussie women’s cricket team kickstart an incredible summer on Seven and 7plus

It’s time for the nation’s most decorated team – the Australian women’s cricket team – to launch the greatest summer of cricket yet on the Seven Network, starting this Thursday when they take on New Zealand in the first of three blockbuster T20 matches in Queensland.

With an all-star line-up captained by Alyssa Healy, who will lead the team out onto Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay on Thursday, the Aussies will be looking to solidify their placing as the undisputed #1 team in the world ahead of a huge summer on home soil.

Over the next week on Seven, they will battle for world supremacy in a three-match T20 international series against New Zealand, all broadcast live and free on Seven and, for the first time, 7plus.

The live and free action begins at 6.50pm AEST Thursday on 7mate and 7plus, with the opening match of the T20I series, and kicks off a sensational 2024-25 summer of cricket on Seven and 7plus:

  • Sunday, 27 October to Sunday 1 December – WBBL
  • Friday November 22 – Tuesday, 7 January – Border-Gavaskar Trophy
  • Thursday, December 5 – Wednesday, 11 December – Australia Women v India Women International Series
  • Sunday, 15 December to Monday, 27 January 2025 – BBL
  • Sunday, January 12 to Sunday, 2 February 2025 – Women’s Ashes Series

Seven’s cricket coverage for the women’s international and WBBL summer will feature Lisa Sthalekar, Emma Freedman, Holly Ferling, Erin Holland, Elyse Villani, Brad Hodge, Jason Richardson, Andy Maher, Alister Nicholson, Kirby Short, Katey Martin and Trent Copeland live from the ground for every match in the series.

In a coup for Australian cricket fans, Seven has also announced that Australian fast bowler Mitch Starc will be behind the microphone throughout the Women’s Ashes Series.

Seven’s Director of Network Sport, Chris Jones, said: “What better way to kick off an incredible summer of cricket – the first to ever be streamed for free in Australia – than with our nation’s most successful sports team: the Australian women’s cricket team.

“As we embark on the best summer of cricket yet, Australians can stream women’s and men’s international and domestic cricket for the first time, live and free on 7plus. The timing could not be better.

“On paper, this summer is the best we’ve ever seen since broadcasting the cricket live and free on Seven. With the heavyweight championship of the world – the five-series Test between Australia and India – paired with the WBBL and BBL with more clear air than ever before, and a Women’s Ashes Series, it’s going to be an incredible summer, and it all starts this week live and free on Seven and 7plus.”

Seven’s Head of Cricket, Joel Starcevic, said: “This year’s women’s cricket line up is one of the strongest ever seen on home soil and we cannot wait to deliver all the action to Australians live and free on Seven and 7plus.

“Once again, we’ve assembled a talent-stacked crop of cricket’s best voices to complement what looks to be an unbelievable summer of women’s international and domestic cricket, culminating in a home Ashes Series. It doesn’t get better than that!”

I think the Adelaide broadcast info for September 24 is a typo, as My Kitchen Rules is screening that night.

The women’s internationals were seriously outdated as they were the same since 2018. Glad the change was made.

This is soo much better. I have a feeling that 7’s W/BBL graphics might be the same as when they first got the rights, they used the same ones for women’s internationals & W/BBL

I like this small version too
