huh? I meant as to why there is no footage of South Africans in the promo…
This would be the exact reason they opted out of the broadcast. Network execs wanted an episode of Border Security to run at 5.30pm to provide a stronger lead-in to the News.
Haha sorry didn’t read that far back.
Another Aus v SA promo
Are 7 not bothering to promote the Australia-West Indies day night Test?
I think the promo might of been for Test 1 and 2?
Although I haven’t seen any promos for the BBL, somehow I feel like this is a Seven vs. CA thing where Seven refuses to show promotion for it. Cricket Australia should take note of this for the next broadcast deal.
there have been promos for the bbl during the test cricket.
7’s ratings for the first Test against the West Indies were mediocre, averaging less than 380k in the 5 city metro and even got beat by the supercars in Adelaide, so they are a bit worried about how viewership will pan out for the rest of the summer.
This was always going to be a risk with a simulcast deal for Test cricket, the audience share gets cannibalized and the reduction in FTA ratings will always come across drastically for less attractive Test teams such as the West Indies. 7 have already lost interest in winning the rights given how Kerry Stokes didn’t bother to meet with the CA chairman during the Perth Test, while all his competitors were holed up in meetings with CA executives.
There have been several BBL promo’s before the tests and a lot during the test
Slightly off topic, I have just noticed his Twitter account has been suspended.
Which countries are scheduled to play tests in the 2023-2024 summer (final year of the deal)?
After the SA tests, If I’m right, 8 of 10 original test playing nations would have played in tests broadcasted by 7 in the 5 years.
All with 7 not changing the graphics, Fox had 3 changes
2018-19
2019-21
2021+
2 Tests against the West Indies again and 3 Tests against Pakistan next summer. No wonder 7 have requested an early release from the contract.
My favourite was 19/20
They need to update the sponsor boards that keep saying “this lunch break is brought to you by…” during the dinner breaks.
Seven appears not to have the umpire audio currently.
They had back for the DRS of over 68.4
Seven’s got the “Roller Cam” this summer. Is this exclusive as Damien Fleming refers to it as, or does Fox have access?
Coverage of the second test against West Indies finished today at 5pm AEDT.
At least they had presentations & post series show today
The summer of cricket heats up live and free on Seven
BBL|12 tomorrow on Channel 7 and 7mate
The Big Bash League bursts back on to the screens of the Seven Network tomorrow night when Sydney Thunder take on the Melbourne Stars at Manuka Oval in the opening match of the 2022-23 season.
With a fierce rivalry, bound to ensure BBL|12 starts with a bang, the Thunder will bring enormous firepower to this year’s competition, with international stars David Willey and Rilee Rossouw set to pull on the lime green for the first time, while Alex Hales will return to the Thunder to join the likes of David Warner.
Led by Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis, the Melbourne Stars will once again unveil an explosive line-up for the 2022-23 season, headlined by New Zealander Trent Boult.
Tuesday night’s season opener kicks off 45 BBL matches on Seven in 2022-23, including all marquee games and finals. It also headlines a massive opening week that includes:
Wednesday night: Adelaide Strikers v Sydney Sixers
Thursday night: Brisbane Heat v Hobart Hurricanes
Friday double-header: Melbourne Stars v Hobart Hurricanes, followed by Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers
Sunday: Melbourne Renegades v Sydney Thunder
In a massive week for cricket fans, the highly-anticipated Australia v South Africa test will also light up the screens of Seven, opening on Saturday morning at The Gabba from 10.00am AEDT, live and free on Channel 7.
Led by the incomparable, Ricky Ponting, Seven’s commentary team for BBL|12 is made up of Ian Bishop, Greg Blewett, James Brayshaw, Trent Copeland, Ryan Daniels, Holly Ferling, Damien Fleming, Brad Hodge, Erin Holland, Justin Langer, Andy Maher, Mel McLaughlin, Alister Nicholson, Will Pucovski, Jason Richardson, Lisa Sthalekar and Elyse Villani.
In a huge coup for cricket fans, current Big Bash League stars Sam Billings, Alex Carey, Alana King, Aaron Finch, Chris Green, Moises Henriques and Glenn Maxwell will be regulars on Seven’s live and free BBL coverage.
Former Australian women’s captain Lisa Sthalekar is on the edge of her seat ahead of the start of the season.
“Given how difficult it has been the past few years operating with COVID, I expect the players and fans will see a real celebration of BBL this year,” she said.
“With the opportunity for so many of our Aussie stars to be available at the back end of the season, it brings the opportunity for an action-packed lead into Finals.
“The two most successful clubs, the Sixers and Scorchers, have again put together a quality squad and no doubt will be there in the Finals. Their counters are always nail-bitting matches and I wouldn’t expect anything different this year.
“One player that we haven’t seen for a while in BBL is Andre Russell and while he won’t be out for the entire competition, there’s no doubt he will provide plenty of entertainment. The other aspect I am looking forward to is a few of our Aussie stars coming back and playing BBL. It has been a while since we have seen Warner turn out for the Thunder and he will certainly want to show his dominance in this format!”
