Sam McClure’s taking over from Basil Zempilas in the Footy Central studio on Saturday Night Footy.

Interesting choice.

Wonder if someone like Michael Felgate or Sean Sowerby (who’s at BCM on weekends anyway) were offered first?

Reading between the lines, the big change is that the long time institution of Saturday Arvo Footy is gone (on Free To Air, anyway).

There will be no Channel Seven coverage of any Saturday afternoon game in Melbourne during the Home & Away season, with Live VFL taking the timeslot. Telecast VFL games are scheduled to commence at 2.40pm (first 3 rounds) or 2.10pm on Saturday afternoons.

Outside Victoria, Saturday afternoon games will only be telecast on Seven as Foxtel-produced games that fall under the home state teams arrangement.

I’m surprised Seven didn’t take over Footyology (with Rohan Connolly and Mark Fine) and the footy panel show “That’s Good For Footy” from C31 (seeing though C31 is closing its over the air signal later in the year, and Seven is already screening several former C31 shows on its sub channels, for example Vasili’s Garden on 7two and Your 4x4 on 7mate), they would be perfect for 7mate on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Disappointing to see no new graphics package (or so it looks)

It changed last time, at the the commencement of the rights agreement (2012 - 2016). I’ve been hoping for the past couple of years that the boring and dull graphics package would be updated but as you said Luke, no, looks like we’ll have to wait for at least another year.

[/quote]I wonder what SCTV will air in place for the majority of the Saturday afternoons during the AFL season now that those games are gone? They’ve never taken the VFL coverage from Seven in Victoria so that’s out, so I’m guessing they’ll just air encores of the past week of the reality “tentpole” shows like MKR etc during the timeslots.

Probably whatever daytime programing Seven Sydney usually airs on Saturday afternoons would be my guess.

So The Front Bar is a 7 production now? Or they are just airing it?

Essendon welcomes back their star-studded line-up after serving controversial suspensions to take on the Hawks on Saturday Night Footy at the MCG. The Hawks will unveil their new line- up after the departure of some of the club’s biggest names ever.

In the pre-game build up The Kick speaks with new Hawks skipper Jarryd Roughead about his return to footy. Coaching great Kevin Sheedy joins us LIVE fresh from the Bombers march to the ‘G and we cross to the AFLW Grand Final celebrations.

The inaugural AFLW Grand Final comes LIVE from Metricon Stadium Saturday afternoon as minor premiers Brisbane host the Crows for the right to be crowned AFLW premiers, an event marking a spectacular milestone in sporting equality and history.

All eyes will be on Adelaide stars Sarah Perkins and Erin Phillips to power the Crows to success, while the Lions will be counting on Kate McCarthy and Sabrina Frederick-Traub to bring home the flag.

Sunday Football sees the Adelaide Crows host premiership favourites GWS Giants at Adelaide Oval. Footy satirist Titus O’Reily has some fun with Giants skipper Callan Ward in the pre- game build-up. While we also catch up with star forward Josh Jenkins about why he stayed loyal to the Crows.

Does Perth get any games on the main channel these days?

Yes the local games I think. Which are never in HD. only the eastern states. Which I care more about . Could careless about local games at Domain stadium being in HD for West Coast eagles or the purple one eye Dockers :stuck_out_tongue:
