Good - wouldn’t imagine too many people would be happy about having to stay up until after midnight to see their team play if the FTA broadcast starts at 9:30pm
In this day and age. I think they should be appreciated that every home state game is available to them for free (outside Vic). All live except for 3. Fantastic deal.
Given they have specifically in the first third of the year. I think Seven are probably thinking Sunday night football can claw back some of the share % they lose to the MAFS juggernaut in the early part of the ratings year.
I wonder if they would be the full broadcast as if it was live, or condensed into (say) 2.5 hours as it was when Ten delayed non-Swans matches in Sydney between 2002-11, often no earlier than 10:30pm (at which point the full-time siren would’ve sounded in real time).
As for the 7:30pm matches being delayed by one hour, that’s not actually a bad result, it’s just like the pre-2012 days when Seven in Melbourne aired BH&G first, then Friday night football (and Nine between 2002-06), albeit it would be the other markets in this situation, not Melbourne.
I think it would likely be condensed, since Seven Adelaide has been doing it for a few years now.

First Qualifying Final: North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos v Adelaide Crows
7.00pm AEDT Friday, November 8 on 7mate and 7plus
Port Adelaide v Richmond will also be shown live on 7mate in Brisbane from 2pm local time.
New Crows logo incorporated into the score graphic BUT it doesn’t look great. They need to make it a bit more smaller
The big version is fine but I think they should include ‘Adelaide’ which is part of the new logo
Which they have included here
And also the logo in red
Maybe @TV.Cynic can provide actual screenshots if possible
I am surprised that they have used this logo. I thought they would still use the old logo until the end of the season. Will be interesting if they were to win the premiership would they include the new or old logo on premiers mechandise?
Would most likely be the new logo since they wouldn’t have made premiership merchandise yet since they haven’t made the Grand Final. And even if they’ve already made it for some reason, they binned any of the merch with the old logo on it when they launched it, and had stocks of the new one ready to go from day 1, so I doubt the GF merch would have the old logo even if it was made well in advance.
GWS star Alicia Eva is joining Seven’s commentary team for this afternoon’s qualifying final between Hawthorn and Brisbane Lions at Ikon Park.
This evening the AFL announced the fixture for week two of 2024 AFLW finals series. Both matches will be held this Saturday, November 16.
First semi-final
Adelaide v Fremantle at Norwood Oval, 3.05pm ACDT (3.35pm AEDT)
Winner to face Brisbane in the preliminary final.
Second semi-final
Hawthorn v Port Adelaide at Ikon Park, 7.30pm AEDT
Winner to face North Melbourne in the preliminary final.
Note the Crows v Dockers semi final is up against race 1 of Supercars Adelaide 500 (3.50pm AEST start) which is also shown live on Seven.
This means it’ll be a Super Saturday in Adelaide as the Supercars, AFLW final and WBBL will all be happening simultaneously.
Can’t understand why the AFL thinks it’s a good idea for the Crows v Dockers game to go up against not one but two already locked in events. The game should really be played either Friday or Saturday night instead.
Last year, the two AFLW semi-finals (Adelaide Crows vs Sydney Swans, and Geelong Cats vs Melbourne) were played on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, respectively.
IMO, having the Crows vs Dockers match in the evening and the Hawks vs Power on the Sunday afternoon would’ve been a better outcome; not just that, the fact that the former match is at Norwood Oval would’ve allowed Supercars fans to just make the 15-20 minute walk east immediately after the first Supercars race has ended (about 5:15pm ACST), if they were interested in the footy afterwards.
