Sydney v Brisbane would be the ideal result in terms of national ratings. Victorians tune in regardless.

I’d like to think that we are pretty close now, if not already there, for the AFL to be a national game. They’ve made amazing inroads in QLD and NSW the last 2/3 years in viewers and of course helped by the performance of the Sydney Swans and the Brisbane Lions.

This is no longer a Melbourne only competition.

That much is obvious.

In terms of ratings, the biggest spikes would be from casual viewers in Sydney for the Swans and Brisbane for the Lions as the majority of fans in Melbourne/Adelaide/Perth will watch the Grand Final regardless of who is playing.

Good to see the AFL focus on truly being Aussie.

Unlike the NRL with the New Zealand Warriors, ridiculous Vegas Round and now a Papa New Guinea team. Just money making moves there.

Looking forward to the Tasmania Devils entering the competition in a few years time too.

Yep, they give an extra team to QLD when there are states that still don’t have a team and there are some that still want another QLD team for the western corridor! Wait until every state has a team first!

Nice for footy and Lions fans there, but news ratings wise, probably would’ve been smarter to go straight to news like elsewhere, capitalise.

Seven couldn’t have scripted it better, see-saw nail biter right until the final siren and right on 8pm.

AFL House must be having a meltdown. Seven national sales execs would be salivating at the GF prospects now.
