Geez… imagine if they knew all the other things that went wrong on coverage… the background colour of a box wouldn’t even enter their mind.

This will presumably impact the upcoming weekend

7mate’s live coverage commenced as Magarey Medal count was about one-third through the season. It started this late due to the SA Football Hall of Fame ceremony earlier tonight.

The twilight timeslot allows Fremantle squad and coaches to fly back to Perth right after the match, instead of having to stay another night in Sydney.

And here is the VFL preliminary final fixture. Both matches will be shown in Queensland on 7mate. The VFL grand final will be held at Ikon Park in Melbourne on Sunday, September 18, at 2.30pm AEST.

It will be hosted by Dale Thomas and Emma Freedman (she told Herald Sun it would be her first attendance at the Brownlow red carpet).

During the AFLW match at the MCG last Friday. The broadcast virtually showed the AFLW & NAB logo.

Being produced by Seven instead of the normal company allows this.

Do Seven produce the WAFL coverage on their own then? That makes extensive use of digital ads (looking hideous in the process)

Caroline Wilson said on Footy Classified tonight that she believes Wayne Carey may have performed his last duties for Seven. She says Seven are disappointed that he didn’t inform the network of the incident at Crown in Perth after it happened.

Yes I believe that is the case.

I agree that some of digital ads at WAFL matches are hideous, based on my viewing of grand finals in recent years.

As for Wayne Carey, if he had informed Seven of the Crown incident he would probably not have appeared in the network’s telecast of Fremantle v Western Bulldogs game as a commentator.

WAFL grand finals (and ztate of origin going back 30+ years) have often had excessive on grass advertising but digital looks even worse.

The Age is reporting that Seven is considering Carey’s position beyond this season. Senior executives at Seven regard the Crown incident as a terrible look and believe that it, along with previous incidents during his time with the network, has damaged Carey’s credibility. Carey has chosen not to file his column for the paper this week.
