Interesting to note that it’ll be Ross Lyon who will attempt to prevent the present-day Dockers from achieving a new club record of 10 consecutive victories; their equal-best such record (which they equalled by beating Essendon today) came when he was at the helm in 2015; this ended when Richmond ambushed them at Domain Stadium in round ten (I still remember watching that game and watching the Tigers dominate from start to finish).
I remember that matchup. Freo were 9–0 to start the season

The AFL today confirmed there would be four men’s and women’s doubleheaders this year, starting with St Kilda v Carlton “Spud’s Game” on Sunday, August 9 at Marvel Stadium, featuring the AFLW season opener between the two teams.

I’m surprised that the AFLW is starting at 4:35pm. I guess it’s so they have the minimum possible wait time for fans.
7 reported 5 double headers while AFL has only confirmed 4. So maybe they are still figuring out the 5th doubleheader. Also I’m not the biggest fan of having a double headers featuring 2 away teams, it should be the same teams for both AFL & AFLW.

The AFL’s Sarah Black wrote the fifth doubleheader could be played in Geelong but it would depend on the men’s team’s ladder position going into round 24.

Some notable things I see are:
Thursday Aug 13
Hawthorn v Melbourne, Ikon Park, 7.15pm
This is R23 of AFL. So there might be no Thursday night AFL in R23 given they would not want a clash. So there could potentially be a Saturday night on 7? Given Thursday’s replaced Saturday.
Sunday Aug 30
Essendon v Richmond, TIO Stadium, 7.15pm
This is during the wildcard round and I think would be on 7mate since it’s a marquee game of the indigenous round

It will be interesting to see if Seven will show any AFLW matches on Saturdays in Victoria, given Fox Footy’s exclusivity on Saturdays during the AFL season.
7 showed Saturday games last season so the super Saturday is only for AFL. Not AFLW

It could be Fremantle v Adelaide starting at 8.40pm AEST.
AFLW is 2 hours. So a 7:15pm match would finish after 9pm. So I don’t see a Thursday Night afl match at like 9:30pm even if it’s 7:30pm WA local time

AFL likes having no clashes with the first match of the AFLW - the first match is a double header at Marvel but this would be the standalone first match.
Last year was the same. AFLW was a standalone match with no AFL clash
