Seven AFL Coverage

For good reason, cannot avoid channel-switching this weekend.

Qualifying (bounce 7.40/coverage begins 7.00):

  • VIC: Seven
  • WA: 7mate
  • Rest of country: 7mate => (7.30) continues on Seven

First elimination final (3.15/2.30):

  • WA: Seven
  • Rest of country: Seven => (6.00) continues on 7mate

Second elimination final (7.35/6.30):

  • SA: 7mate => (7.30) continues on Seven
  • WA: Seven => (7.00) continues on 7mate => (7.30) continues on Seven
  • Rest of country: 7mate => (7.00) continues on Seven

Can confirm that BT will NOT be doing the Friday night game on Seven this week, he is on MMM.

So seems like Seven will retain the combinations of BT & Hamish on Thursday with Brayshaw & Al Nicholson on Friday this week.

Full screen “Channel Change” alert on 7mate in NSW with Towies following it straight after at 7.32pm with game moving to the main channel.

Surely a screen pushback would do instead of this.

(Yes, it isn’t unprecedented but still fairly annoying.)

Clock/quarter box is the only golden area on the scoreboard, as is the case with the previous package.

Bruce McAvaney hosted Seven’s telecast of Crows v Pies tonight. I think he will do one more match telecast before flying to Tokyo to prepare for SBS’s coverage of the World Athletics Championships.

Nick Daicos dropping the F bomb in the post match interview and Bruce was speechless and didn’t know what to say next as he was waiting for Mitch to get another player :joy: :laughing:

I heard that too. Nick Daicos said it was the advice from his dad (Peter Daicos): “Go F-ing win”.

Notice they have swapped out all the bounce times for “coverage begins” times.

And still get it wrong, because Dockers-Suns will start 6.30pm AEST.

The 1st semifinal will bounce next Friday at the usual 7.40pm.

I think they are showing main channel start times. 6:30 pre game is 7mate

Which is an odd way to say that either:

A) Nothing interesting or worth watching will be on the 7mate portion
or
B) They don’t want to asterisk “6.30pm AEST on 7mate” with “7 in WA” (Actually, WA will be bounced to 7mate for the second-half portion of the pregame)

And for the Cats/Lions, 7pm was advertised as the start time despite it being on 7mate outside VIC. So mostly reason A it is then.

My understanding is McAvaney will be part of the entire finals series for 7.

Good to see that 7 Made the commentators dress more appropriately for the broadcast. I think they have been way to casually dressed this season and makes the broadcast feel and look cheap.

World Athletics Championships is 13th to 21st. That means he will be on SBS commitments for semi finals & preliminary final. He should be present for the rest of this week & grand final.

Was it Bruce’s decision to step away from commentary a few years ago? I know he had his health battles, but it seems like he really misses being apart of the football coverage.
