You’re right.
Though I think I’ll still be dropping into Kayo first (force of habit), then fluffing around with 7 second.
Simply because I’m paying for it.
Now if at any stage Kayo contemplates a price rise, then I’ll be asking ‘what about free?’

They already did increase it from $35 to $40 this month
Agreed completely, I pay for the better quality match broadcasting on Kayo but it’s great to see Seven catering to the market with better programming, on almost every night of the week.
The VFL fixture was released today, and there are no games scheduled in the Saturday 7.30pm timeslot, apart from a couple of Frankston home games.
It looks like the plan for Seven to air a live VFL game every Saturday night must have fallen through.
That’s a blow for 7 & their Footy all 7 days. Their ads have had Saturday VFL since they began.
I think they will show Saturday VFL 2:30pm instead of Sunday 12:30pm VFL anyway given they have Sunday Footy Fest at 12pm Sunday.
So maybe not a big loss for 7 as the Saturday night VFL was going to be on 7mate anyways
Wouldn’t it be floating to allow for best possible match up? It’s definitely happening
There was a lot of heat from the VFL clubs especially given the so called deal with Port
It wasn’t mentioned at all in the comprehensive press release issued by the AFL today. I’d say there was pushback from the clubs and the idea was quietly canned.
Meanwhile in the SANFL, the following night matches are listed for Seven:
Round 1 - Norwood V North Adelaide (Saturday Night)
Round 3 - Port Adelaide V South Adelaide (Good Friday Night)
All other Seven games until Round 11 (End of June) are day games, with the rest of the fixture TBC
The ad for 7+ AFL just aired. It had all the shows with Thursday Night Footy, Friday Night Footy, Jason Bennett saying ‘Saturday State Footy’ & Sunday Arvo footy.
So looks like they are swapping Sunday VFL (other state comps) to Saturday regardless if it was night.
@TV.Cynic any chance u can get the full promo. I think it’s new & was filmed Wednesday
SANFL mainly aired Saturday anyway, so it’s nothing new for SA viewers - there was the odd Sunday game though (and probably still will be) if they didn’t air the Sunday Arvo game due to airing a Port or Crows game on a Saturday Afternoon, or in Sunday Twilight slots (or if there was no local or Seven AFL game on Sunday).
My presumption was that they used the early Sunday timeslot for the VFL to avoid the Saturday afternoon horse racing, whereas in Adelaide they’d just put that on 7two. I wonder how they’ll get around that clash here (maybe just put the VFL on 7mate?).
The media release actually said other broadcast details to be confirmed.
Sounds like Ch7 are still negotiating with clubs on what kick-backs they’d get for giving up a home game to play at Port on TV.
This isn’t a first by the way. The VFA TV game of the week on the ABC in 1988 was played at Port.
Updated promo aired in Adelaide, except it had a small part with Port and Crows players saying you can watch local games on 7Plus with your postcode
So anyone in Melbourne can set up a new 7+ account with a “5000” postcode and watch all Port and Crows games live? How will they police this?
Well my understanding is that there isn’t an option for postcode - you either have to rely on your IP address, or your devices location (latter option isn’t available for smart TV’s)
I guess either someone in marketing doesn’t know how it works, or it’s a change that’s going to be rolled out in the coming days
So a VPN solves all this allowing all games free?
Except 7Plus blocks VPN access
