Seven AFL Coverage (2016-24 seasons)

Match starting 7:15pm that’s why

I meant the two games and therefore the first’s 7:15 start

I think I’ve noticed a change with 7’s score graphic. Looks like they are avoiding both teams having dark colour or same colour.

Carlton wearing their normal jumper with white shorts but 7’s score graphic have them in white. This happened vs bombers, tigers & pies but not in some of their other games when they wore the same jumper & shorts.

To be fair to 7, Carlton should be in their away jumper. I don’t know why the AFL allows these jumper clashes to occur, it’s moronic.

Welp, looks like Channel 7’s share in Sydney tonight will be dead last and 2%, undoing any good work from HSV and giving a joyous 85% to TCN :joy:

Sydney Swans… Never in my life have I seen that, from a team like them!

Actually, I guess Port Adelaide in the 2007 Grand Final would come close.

James Brayshaw is calling today’s Essendon v Fremantle game (filling in for Brian Taylor).

7’s Saturday match is probably Lions vs Bombers

Why did the saturday go back to this stupid fixture with random start times at both 1.45/2.10 and 7.25/7.40. I thought we’d moved away from this and gone to a standard 1.45x2 and 7.30x2, weird.

I could not disagree more - there is nothing worse than two games starting at the exact same time.

By having a 25-min difference between the first two games on Saturday, you can watch the last quarter of Richmond v Gold Coast after Geelong v West Coast finishes. Not to mention during half-time you can flick it over to the other game.

The 4:35 game probably has a lot to do with it, trying to avoid having a potential overlap (albeit small) of three games

This is much better than having 2 games overlap on Saturdays. They should stick with this going forwards instead of having 2 at 1:45 or 2:10 and then doing the same with the night game. As mentioned above by @FootyKick having games starting 20-30mins after the other means people can watch the end of both matches or switch over at half time etc instead of both matches having half time at the same time or being over and then waiting for the twilight match.

Awful timeslot for such a big match.

It’s because of the location. I think games later in the day at Mars isn’t the best so they tend to play games either earlier in the season or very early during the day.

They don’t have adequate lighting for twilight or night.

They play U18 games at night - but are there different rules re. lighting for AFL and U18?

Possibly - U18 also probably doesn’t require broadcast standard lighting (since it’s not on Seven or Fox), which is what is needed for AFL and AFLW.
