Seven AFL Coverage (2016-24 seasons)

Found it hilarious that they didn’t feature commentary from Geelong’s premiership wins because 7 didn’t have the rights.

In a slight variation to the initial announcement that all 14 AFLW teams would play in Victoria, Fremantle will host Gold Coast at Fremantle Oval.

To say I am disappointed is a major understatement. Could have been a blockbuster end to the season with winner of Collingwood v Gold Coast qualifying for the finals. I guess the AFL needed to make sure as much Victorian teams as possible can make finals…

Richo (Matthew, not Jason) to join the Friday night team alongside newcomer Daisy Pearce.

Thank you for that clarification, Jason Richardson known for his Aussie Rules footy expertise and an iconic member of Seven’s AFL team and all…

According to Sunday Herald Sun’s Tony Sheahan, Wayne Carey will have his left shoulder replaced. The operation by leading surgeon Greg Hoy has been pencilled in for April, and is expected to affect Carey’s AFL commentary commitments with Seven and Triple M. Hoy said Carey, who took part in the current season of SAS Australia, was riddled with arthritis and could not sleep properly and go through daily activities without pain.

Seven will have its 2022 AFL season launch next Monday (March 7), said Matthew Richardson on 3AW this evening.

Geelong CEO Steve Hocking and coach Chris Scott separately confirmed a report in The Age that the club has approached Daisy Pearce about securing her services as an assistant coach for the upcoming men’s season. If Daisy accepts the offer, she will appear less often on Seven’s coverage, especially on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons if the Cats are scheduled to play in those timeslots.

Guess duck might get a recall then.

AFL will be on the main channel nationally (including Sydney) Wednesday week. Melbourne gets a 30min news and pre game at 6:30pm. Front Bar live after the match. Home and Away on 7Two.

Guessing all this is just a once-off, also as it’s the season opener. Don’t think there’ll be any other Wednesday nor Sunday, Monday or Tuesday night games on FTA during the season.

Seven might’ve also thought a movie re-run or any other filler after 7:30pm, up against Married, probably would’ve rated terribly in Sydney and Brisbane anyway?

Daisy was also offered the role of Essendon inaugural AFLW coach. She turned the offer down.

Not sure how that is going to work in Brisbane and Perth due to time difference (the Demons-Bulldogs match will start at 6.10pm in Brisbane and 4.10pm in Perth).
I guess all will be revealed this Sunday when Seven releases the advance schedule for the week.

Starts on 7mate in Brisbane, moves to Channel 7 from 7:30pm after H&A, followed by Front Bar.

Perth: Highway Patrol, then Front Bar.

Bizarre programming decision. Seven would hope the scores are close at half time when 7 Brisbane joins the telecast.
