SEN (Radio)

Hutchy has just announced that the SEN Hall of Fame will be established later this year.

The first inductee will be Margaret from Sunbury

I missed it but apparently Hutchy and Pickers took over the 1pm-2pm hour of Dwayne’s World for a special program for Margaret. Was this when he announced the SEN Hall of Fame?

Relax, it’s on the SEN App and SEN.com.au if you wanna hear Margaret’s 90th Birthday?

Who the fuck is Margaret?

Do you listen to SEN?

No need to comment with that language if you don’t know who Margaret is.

Also, according to the above article:

In the update to the market, it was also revealed that ACE Radio Broadcasters has presented a non-binding proposal for the purchase of its 1377AM Melbourne radio license.

Is Magic 1278 about to have AM music competition whilst 2UE will no longer have one?

So they’ve just launched SEN Track on 1377 (3MP) and now they’re selling it?

Really interested to see what SEN does with 2CH and what ACE Radio does with 1377am

SEN can’t broadcast rugby league on 2CH as 2GB has the AM radio rights. Can 2CH broadcast AFL Nation coverage though?

Depends if SEN is getting ready to buy 3UZ and their regional licences…SEN could even off load 3SR and 3BT to ACE.

Alternatively, SEN could acquire Radio Hellas’ HPON 1422 frequency with a promise of “free” use of a a DAB allocation. The only reason to acquire 3UZ would be for the potential content tie-up that could be part of the deal given the current racing bodies’ ownership.

To be honest, it makes perfect sense to run a sports station in conjunction with a racing station. Whether there is enough advertising dollars to fund a niche sport and racing operator, is however another question…

Works for RSN and Tabcorp?

As far as I am aware, RSN operates at a loss and is considered a necessary cost for “product distribution/promotion” (a little like the argument of whether sports should accept Foxtel or pay to be on FTA telly)

It’s now been confirmed that SEN is offloading 1377AM Melbourne to ACE.

So they are acquiring Rete Italia 1539 in Sydney as well?

“Sports broadcaster SEN’s parent company Pacific Star Network (trading as Crocmedia) has announced its expansion into Sydney with the acquisition of the 2CH 1170 AM radio licence and plans to acquire an additional licence 1539 AM Sydney.”

Local breakfast as well;

"In the short term 2CH will continue with existing programming. The licence for 1539 AM will become the third SEN Track station in NSW and the seventh in Australia. It will feature a local breakfast show hosted by Sydney sports broadcasters Joel Caine and Jimmy Smith.

In NSW, Breakfast with Joel and Jimm will provide a local lead into each day’s racing coverage – commencing 22nd June on SEN Track 1575 AM Wollongong and 801 AM Gosford. It will start soon after in Sydney when SEN Track launches on 1539 AM."

Lol, no it won’t start on 801 Gosford on 22nd June unless they fix the TX, it’s been off air for a couple of weeks now, possibly been off air since a general area power loss back on the 19th May?

Hutchy’s spending all his money on buying up stations yet can’t afford to maintain them. Isn’t their Adelaide TX on top of a factory unit???

Do they have a freelance tech up here?

I’ll assume they’ll call the 2CH (cough Macquaire) studios home in Sydney?

Great news, 1377 finally out of the clutches of Hutchison! Hopefully ACE return it’s 3MP name.

That’s the important phrase to keep in mind. Surely in the medium-long term future (probably after the sale of 1539AM is finalised), 1170AM will be SEN Sydney?

I suspect the answer is probably obvious, but what’s with all these competing racing broadcasters (on both TV and radio) in Australia?
