SEN (Radio)

They do Monday to Wednesday during the Run Home for the 5pm hour.
Morning Glory with Matty Johns on a Friday for the 11AM Hour and Saturday League kick off.

It’s a good crossover deal and hopefully we see more of it.

The tournament opener between Mexico and South Africa will be broadcast live on SEN Fanatic and SENTrack around Australia, as well as Sport Nation Extra in NZ.

Specifically Sport Nation Extra.

Surely it deserves main-station billing. If footy can displace programs on the main station, the World Cup should do the same.

The guide shows Canada vs Bosnia-Herzegovina being broadcast across the entire network of SEN, SENTrack and Sport Nation stations.

I find it really bizarre that SEN paid the money for the broadcast rights but have not bothered to air all the matches during the morning and day on the main SEN channel. Their strategy seems to be app downloads for streaming only. What happens after the World Cup when thousands of people then delete the app?

There are thousands of workers and people in their cars who would want to listen to the games during the day instead of usual SEN programming on the main channel. Football is not a priority for SEN, stuck behind an app.

I’m fairly certain that SEN only does 49 matches across all platforms. No matches are streaming-exclusive, I think.

BTW, they have never released the complete list of those matches.

Either way, if one wants to hear everything, they’d have to head to talkSPORT on Nova Player.

We really went from all matches with English and teams-involved commentary to less than enough for even a 32-team tournament. Well done FIFA.

There’s an opportunity for Nova to put talkSport with bespoke ads, onto DAB in the metros.

Pretty decent commentary position at BC Place for the big one tomorrow - live on @SEN_Football @Socceroos ⚽️ 📻 pic.twitter.com/DgD8KOm4BI

It’s nice to see SEN prioritising the Socceroos game across the network.

In AFL markets, the 1pm AFL match is shunted off to SEN Fanatic, while the 3pm AFL match will be joined in progress at 5pm following the soccer post game show.

In NRL markets, the 4pm NRL match will be joined in progress at 4:15pm.

SEN Track isn’t taking the soccer, so some of those stations are taking AFL or NRL in full.

Regardless, while SEN might only be taking one match per day through the group stage, and I’d argue they could probably justify taking more than one on some days, it’s good to see them truly prioritising the World Cup for Australian matches.

It’s still pathetic that SEN can’t be bothered with back to back live commentary off all the games during the day especially USA v Paraguay, Brazil v Morroco and Netherlands v Japan this morning.

it’s Hutchy. What else do you expect?

Today’s Iran v New Zealand clash will be broadcast live across NZ on Sport Nation, as well as SEN Fanatic in Australia.

Most SENTrack stations will carry France v Senegal on early Wednesday morning.

Be great if there was a list with all the games they were covering with the times and commentators.
