Replacement for Radio Sport NZ?

“SENZ”

Why did we get SEN 1170 instead of SENSW? Are there plans for SENT?

I suppose the relevant point - is does this come with SEN Track getting rights to carry NZ race calls here? Otherwise can’t think of much overlap - I assume Nine’s Rugby deal included Radio?, and while I suppose they could work out a deal to air their NRL Nation and perhaps some cricket over there, there’s not all that much synergy.

Well, you certainly can’t say Radio 2 ever made it over the ditch…

Today was Benny Jones’ last day as EP of Sportsday Victoria. Shane McInnes said near the end of the first hour on 3AW that Benny was leaving SEN/Crocmedia for “greener pastures”. Benny will be working for Bendigo Toyota on weekdays.

UPDATE 30/11: Bruce Eva will co-host Sportsday with Sam McClure or Shane McInnes until Christmas.

Tonight (December 15) was Sam McClure’s last Sportsday show for the year. He and Gerard Healy will return next month.
The likes of Bruce Eva, Matt Granland, Shane McInnes, Michael Barlow and Jimmy Bartel will host Sportsday during the Christmas / new year period.

Gerard Healy was back on air on Sportsday Victoria this evening, co-hosting with Jimmy Bartel.

EDIT 18/1: Sam McClure returned to Sportsday today after holidays.

off the bench is having an enclosure at this year Seppelt Great western cup a sponsored ad came up on face book for it

The 1629AM signal in Adelaide & Mt Gambier is ok to listen to, but I have noticed while in the car it does suffer from a lot of electrical interference when driving under power lines, the sound quality can be a bit all over the place at times, it only broadcasts at low power at 400w, so that might have something to do with it.

So following today’s survey results, 1170 SEN have proven to have destroyed any last listeners to 1170AM and have also destroyed any remaining listeners on 2CH DAB+.

How can they attract any listeners in Sydney?

Time to buy some more off-band frequencies so listeners have no other choice?

SEN want it killed off for good. It doesn’t fit its “Sports Radio” remit.

Could one of the Sydney community stations re-brand on a weekend (maybe 2SER?) to take whatever audience is left?

One thing I noticed about today’s ratings for SEN 1170. They clearly have a lot of work to do if people are more willing to listen to horse racing on Sky Sports Radio than actual sports show content on SEN.

I hope SEN have a lot of deep pockets, because Sky Sports Radio has plenty of cash for a long term battle.

Their content does resonate a lot better in Melbourne against RSN though.

Maybe the next survey with NRL/AFL games will bring a better picture.

Tomorrow’s Good Weekend magazine inside The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald has a feature interview with SEN boss Craig Hutchison.

Why is Hutchison known as the founder of the Sports Entertainment Network? When SEN began in January 2004 even though it was only one station the initials represented “Sports Entertainment Network”. Hutchison has made it a “network” though, I suppose. A “network of nothing” IMO.

Channel 7 claims Bruce McAvaney is the best.
