Australia Day Lamb Advertisement Enlists Lee Lin Chin To Promote Eating Lamb On January 26

SBS has launched a campaign to promote the return of their news and current affairs programs for 2016.

This upload shows the full 90 second TVC plus a 10 second version and an example of a program promo - this one for Insight.

Some screen grabs

SBS Launches News and Current Affairs Brand Campaign

Produced by SBS’s in-house creative team, the campaign launches this week as the network’s current affairs programming start to return for 2016.

SBS Director Marketing, Amanda McGregor said: “Globalisation and the explosion of technology mean Australians are more connected to global events than ever. This campaign is about reflecting the unique ways our news and current affairs programs explore those big issues relevant to our audiences.”

SBS Director News and Current Affairs Jim Carroll: “Over many years the SBS news and current affairs teams have built an esteemed reputation for giving Australian audiences in-depth insights into the big global issues that affect all of us through a distinctive lens and we have a strong slate for 2016.”

The campaign will feature extensive out-of-home placement with 440 sites across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane including large format billboards, XtrackTV & Adshel (bus stops).

There will also be a national digital campaign with display and pre-rolls ads across AOD, high-impact placements on news websites and social media. There will be a four week on air campaign on SBS and SBS 2, display, pre-roll and radio advertising

The campaign launches by showcasing how the different SBS programs explore terrorism, with iterations of the campaign throughout 2016 to focus on other global news and current affairs issues.

Those logos for SBS World News and The Feed look different! Possible hint at a 2016 refresh for both?

Aside from that, quite an interesting promo campaign from SBS there!

I don’t think it’s a change for the SBS World News logo. Looks much like it has for a little while now.

You’re probably right.

However I’m sure that the “SBS” text in the SBS World News logo in these promos has been slightly updated to match the current font of the main channel/corporate branding.

Self-indulgent and boring.

I noticed new weather graphics are now being used:

I didn’t get to see if full screen graphics for sport were updated, but I am guessing they were.

I’m not sure how long ago it was updated, but I believe that the titlecards have had a slight tweak to accommodate the newer corporate “SBS” logo font text introduced last year…if that makes sense.
