It’s certainly not what it was set up to be.

The Lunar New Year movies runs from tomorrow (January 27) with Drunken Tai Chi at 8.30pm, followed by the FTA premiere of Broker at 10.10pm. The LNY movie week will also feature the FTA premiere of Korean historical war film Noryang on Thursday (January 30). The week finishes on Friday (January 31) with the Australian premiere of A Guilty Conscience at 11.20pm.

“A Fish Called Wanda” (John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, Michael Palin) currently showing on SBS World Movies.

I would have thought that was a bit too mainstream to be on SBS. Has been on the commercial networks before.

Wednesday had Monty Python And The Holy Grail and and Thursday Monty Python And The Holy Grail

The channel is celebrating Christmas and New Year with a season of animated movies from director Hayao Miyazaki, starting with the Australian TV premiere of The Boy and the Heron next Sunday (December 21) at 6.30pm.

The channel and on demand show plenty of mainstream Hollywood stuff these days, some significant titles too, including previously aired on CFTA.

SBS share MGM with Nine, some content over-lap, but the latter has the bigger/best ones (James Bond and the like).
