SBS’ 2023 upfronts will be held at Barangaroo in Sydney on Wednesday, November 2.
All Upfront information
No mention of Dakar Rally?
Also SBS will broadcast Care A2+ Kooyong Classic, a warm-up event to the Australian Open, on January 10-12 next year. The tennis tournament returns after a three-year absence.
SBS has a great promo for 2023 which features a remake of the Pat Benatar song “We Belong”, sung by Montaigne.
Do the other networks make promos anymore like Ten, the ABC and SBS do?
Yes, that’s it. Thanks.
I think it looks great. A shame the commercial networks have given up on these. I used to look forward to them every January.
New Screen Australia project for SBS
Life on the Hospital Frontline (working title)
A 3 x 52-minute documentary series for SBS that explores the challenges faced by the Australian public health system by going behind the scenes at one of Australia’s busiest public hospitals – St Vincent’s in Sydney. Life on the Hospital Frontline (working title) is series produced by Jo Siddiqui, written/directed by Anthony Barwell and executive produced by Dan Brown whose credits include What Does Australia Really Think About? and Claremont: A Killer Among Us. The series is financed in association with SBS with support from Screenwest and Lotterywest.
So another St Vincent’s documentary?
And SBS secured production funding from WA government agencies rather than Screen NSW for a documentary about a Sydney hospital? That’s odd.
Some part will be post-produced in WA for that funding.
