Fans can relive all the passion and drama of world-class figure skating competition as the stars of the Milano Cortina Games return to compete for world titles at Prague’s O2 arena, writing the next chapter of the compelling narrative that unfolded on the ice in Italy last month.
Dual world champion and pre-Olympic favourite Ilia Malinin will seek redemption after his Milano meltdown, while Olympic champion Alysa Liu will hope to extend her astonishing comeback with a second consecutive world crown.
Surprise Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan has opted not to compete, but silver and bronze medallists Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato of Japan will provide the highest level of competition for the “Quad God” Malinin.
“I’m looking forward to getting myself that ‘redemption competition’, as I like to call it,” Malinin told Olympics.com last week. “I’m definitely looking at that, and I can be satisfied with it if everything goes well.”
The entire women’s Olympic podium will compete as Liu faces silver medallist and former world champion Kaori Sakamoto in her swansong competition, while the exciting 17-year-old Ami Nakai will make her world championships debut after winning a breakthrough bronze medal in Milano.
Olympic pairs champions Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara of Japan will skip the event, creating an opportunity for Milano Cortina 2026 silver medallists, Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava of Georgia, and bronze medallists, Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin of Germany, to contend for a first world title.
Meanwhile, the ice dancing competition will see a rematch between France’s gold medal duo Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, and American silver medallists Madison Chock and Evan Bates, who will hope to go one better and successfully defend their world title.
Aussies in action
Australia’s Olympic representatives Holly Harris and Jason Chan (ice dancing) and Anastasia Golubeva and Hektor Giotopoulos-Moore (pairs) will be back on the ice.
Harris and Chan are fresh from Australia’s best-ever performance in the ice dance at the Olympics (18th place) and will look to make a further rise up the ranks in Czechia.
Golubeva and Giotopoulos-Moore had a rough start to the 2025-26 season as uncertainty around Golubeva’s nationality and injury issues halted their momentum. However they still finished 18th at the Olympics, and will hope to be nearer their best at the world championships, after finishing in the top ten for the past three years.

The AFL is pleased to introduce a new weekly program – Inside the Huddle – to its content offering for the 2026 Toyota AFL Premiership Season as part of the league’s continued partnership with National Indigenous Television (NITV).
Launching Wednesday 11 March, the program has been developed in alignment with the AFL’s new First Nations Strategy, providing a dedicated platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to share their stories, connection and perspectives from across the game.
Inside the Huddle blends sharp football insight with relaxed conversation, exploring the latest news from the league through a culturally informed lens, and celebrates the rich history and ongoing contribution First Nations players, both past and present, have made to the game.
The show will be hosted by three-time premiership player and Gunditjmara and Wiradjuri man Chris Johnson, alongside Warumungu and Yawuru woman and experienced presenter Megan Waters.
Each week the duo will be joined by rotating co-hosts, including superstars such as Yorta Yorta man Jarman Impey, Kaurna Ngarrindjeri man Chad Wingard, Noongar woman Courtney Ugle and Wiradjuri man Zac Williams alongside many more, to preview the upcoming round and sit down with high-profile guests to yarn about their personal journeys, connection to their culture and career highlights.
Spotlighting First Nations players, emerging talent and the broader impact of the game in communities nationwide, the program aims to amplify First Nations voices while supporting pathways for the next generation across the AFL industry.

Inside the Huddle will be executive produced by Yorta Yorta and Wurundjeri man Tony Briggs from Typecast Entertainment, who will oversee the program’s direction while ensuring cultural authenticity and First Nations perspectives are embedded throughout production.
Best known for creating the hit film The Sapphires, Briggs brings more than three decades of experience across the film and television industry, also serving as the executive producer for Yokayi Footy, which aired across AFL and NITV platforms.

All the action from the final stage of the 2026 Volta a Catalunya, as the peloton takes on a 95.1 km route starting and finishing in Barcelona.
SBS will expand its international cycling offering this year to include all Grand Tour and Monument races, providing broadcasts of all the world’s most prestigious annual road cycling events for men and women – live, free and exclusively on SBS and SBS On Demand.
Under an agreement with Giro d’Italia organiser RCS Sport, the Giro d’Italia Women and Il Lombardia have been added to SBS’s road cycling slate until 2028.
SBS’s broadcast calendar now includes all three Grand Tours for men (the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana) and for women (Giro d’Italia Women, Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift and Vuelta Espana Femenina).
In addition, cycling fans will be able to see all five Monuments – the annual one-day cycling classics regarded as the most prestigious, historic and difficult on the schedule – live, free and exclusively on SBS and SBS On Demand.
The first Monuments of the year, Milan-Sanremo and Sanremo Women, will be broadcast live this Saturday (21 March) on SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand, followed by the Tour of Flanders (5 April), Paris-Roubaix (12 April), and Liege-Bastogne-Liege (26 April). Il Lombadia completes the season on 10 October.
The first Grand Tour on the schedule is the Vuelta Espana Femenina (3-10 May), with the Giro d’Italia (8-31 May) and Giro d’Italia Women (30 May – 7 June) following in swift succession, giving fans a feast of world-class cycling in April-May.
These lead into the Tour de France (4-26 July) and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift (1-9 August), before the Vuelta a Espana (22 August – 13 September) closes out the Grand Tour season.
Under the new agreement, SBS has also acquired rights to other UCI WorldTour and UCI Pro Series races for the next three years, including Tirreno-Adriatico, Milano-Torino and Il GranPiedmonte, as well as the Sparkassen Munsterland Giro in Germany.
SBS Director of Sport Ken Shipp said: “SBS continues to build on its position as Australia’s Home of Cycling, now offering every Grand Tour and Monument race to Australians, live, free and exclusive. This agreement ensures the sport’s most iconic moments are all in one place, across both men’s and women’s racing. From the first Monument in March through to the final races in October, Australians can follow the full international season on SBS, with the expert commentary and storytelling they expect.”
SBS is also the home of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the Dakar Rally, the 2026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, World Gymnastics events and the SailGP series, as well as domestic cycling events including the Mapei Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and ProVelo Super League
SBS will broadcast the 2026 Bathurst 6 Hour on April 4 and 5.
