MOTORSPORT
Speedweek will continue to bring fans exciting wheel-to-wheel moments and superb on-track entertainment every Sunday at 1pm on SBS. Speedweek is a comprehensive motorsport show that covers many forms of Australian and International motorsport.
I think it is a good concept from SBS - in doing these historic sporting moments (replays).
Good to see soccer (football) having two consistent timeslots - Thursdays at 2.30pm and Sundays at 3.30pm. And showing some Finals too, which is a bonus.
Am happy to see Ash Bartyâs wins too from the French Open
Some good moments there. Surely theyâd do Cadel Evans Tour de France win. Perhaps no replay rights for that.
SBS will do Cadel Evansâ win in Tour de France as a 4-part documentary on Sunday afternoons from June 28.
SBS Cycling

SBS to farewell football analyst, Craig Foster, after 18 years with the network
SBS today (June 24) announced that multi award-winning sports broadcaster, Craig Foster, will leave his permanent role at SBS as Chief Football Analyst at the end of July to pursue other challenges.
SBS plans to continue working with Craig in the future on the networkâs marquee football events.
Craig will broadcast FIFAâs decision for hosting rights to the 2023 FIFA Womenâs World Cup⢠on Friday morning at 8am on SBS, alongside Lucy ZeliÄ, as a fitting farewell to an 18-year career.
Craig Foster said: âMy deepest gratitude to SBS Chairpersons, Directors, management, colleagues and our loyal viewers across football and news for an incredible journey. SBS provided not just an opportunity, but a mission back in 2002 and I instantly knew that we were aligned in our values, love of football and vision for the game. But the organisational spirit of inclusion, acceptance of diversity and promotion of Australiaâs multicultural heart struck me most deeply. We brought this to life through football, but the mission was always to create a better Australia and world. My own challenges lie in this field and I will miss the people, above all, though I will never be too far away. I will always be deeply proud of having called SBS home for so long and look forward to walking down memory lane and thanking everyone personally over the next month.â
SBS Managing Director, James Taylor, said: âCraig is one of the finest football analysts and commentators, and has made a significant contribution to SBS over almost two decades. He embodies the personal and professional qualities that SBS espouses and we will watch with interest as he continues to break new ground, both as a former professional athlete and a strong advocate for social inclusion. While he will be missed as a regular in the studio, and by all that have worked with him, we look forward to working with Craig down the track.â
SBS Director of Sport, Ken Shipp, said: âCraig has lived the values of our Charter in promoting multiculturalism, inclusion and social harmony and his list of achievements is vast. From his famous, passionate commentary on the Socceroosâ 2005 World Cup Qualifier, developing a primary school football game for Harmony Day, winning three Logies as part of our amazing SBS World Game team, to championing the game of football in a way of which few are capable, Craig walked in the shoes of former great football advocates, Johnny Warren and Les Murray, and carried a proud legacy for two decades. I will enjoy watching him continue to rise. The door remains always open to work together again and I know there is nothing that he cannot achieve. Craig will always be part of the SBS family.â
SBS Sport presenter, Lucy ZeliÄ, said: âThere will never, ever be another Craig Foster and SBS, together with the Australian football community, have been immeasurably fortunate to have a man of his talents, credibility and professionalism dedicated to the cause. I always knew the day would come when Craig would be called upon for a greater purpose and I have no doubt in my mind that my beloved friend will continue to shine and inspire us all on his journey. He will always have a seat beside me at SBS, ready and waiting.â
SBS is committed to bringing Australians coverage of some of the best international sporting events, including the French Open, the 2022 FIFA World Cup⢠and the Tour de France.
SBS remains the exclusive the rights holder of the 2022 FIFA World Cup⢠as well as the non-exclusive rights holder of a number of various other football events.
What might he be moving on to?
This article mentions he was finishing a law degree last year, and that he wouldnât rule out politics in the future.
As SBSâs press release mentioned, the network will have coverage on the announcement of hosting rights to the 2023 FIFA Womenâs World Cup tomorrow (June 26) at 8am, hosted by Craig Foster and Lucy Zelic. The half-hour special will be shown on delay in SA, NT and WA.
The decision will be streamed live on Facebook as below.
Fox Sports will have its own coverage on the hosting rights announcement tomorrow.
at 2am?
Live on SBS The World Game Facebook page at 1:30am. A half hour wrap up of the announcement on SBS television at 8:00am.
I remember about a decade ago all networks will be showing the result live, even ONE HD. Why arenât they doing it this time. I think the reason why it was shown was because Australia was in the running to win the hosting rights to the then 2018 and 2022 world cups.
Since helping secure Hakeem al-Araibiâs release, heâs been increased his involvement in a number of human rights organisations.
