Homecoming Queens is a seven-part, semi-autobiographical comedy series about friendship, youth and illness. Best friends Michelle and Chloë are progressive women in their mid‐twenties who have arrived at the crossroads faced by all young people of this age. That means they’re asking themselves the big questions: What do I want to do with my life? Is the transition to adulthood meant to be this difficult? And who’s going to sleep with me when my body’s a mess? These questions become more complicated when, like Michelle and Chloë, you’re living with a chronic illness.
Homecoming Queens was born out of a real friendship between Michelle Law and Chloë Reeson and some true-to-life scenarios. Michelle has lived with the auto-immune disease Alopecia since she was thirteen, and she’s also no stranger to the daily catcalls that come with being a bald woman. As a young survivor of breast cancer who underwent their second mastectomy this year, Chloë is familiar with the expectation that being ‘an inspiration to us all’ brings. Both can identify with the feeling that sometimes, chronic illness makes you feel a million years old and not the least bit young, sexy, or cool. And sometimes, you’ve got to find a way to be okay with that.
This is a female-driven story, created by a team of filmmakers who identify as female and non-binary.
Really crap that the catchup app on PS4 is no longer supported. Downloaded an update for it and it basically kills the app with a “Sorry the SBS on Demand app is no longer supported on PS4 devices. Please contact us if you have any concerns”…
I have constant quality issues using it on my FetchMighty box. Anyone know why they killed it ?
They also discontinued the Xbox One app, I’m guessing SBS thought not enough people were watching their service on gaming consoles to justify the need to keep them running?
I was at an SBS audience forum a couple of months ago and they mentioned that the cost of licencing and maintaining On Demand for each individual platform was becoming prohibitive so they had to wind it back and ditch some of them. I suppose they had some analytics on how many people were accessing each platform.

Set in Berlin 1956, at the traditional dance school ‘Galant’‚ worlds collide and the struggle between prudishness and emancipation is carried out. Caterina Schöllack, owner of the school and mother of three marriageable daughters, tries to integrate herself and her family into a hierarchically structured society. Two of her daughters seem to abide by their mother‘s wish - Helga appears to have made a brilliant move with her marriage to the lawyer Wolfgang von Boost, and Nurse Eva does everything she can to get married to the Head Professor Fassbender.
Only Monika, the middle daughter, rejects her given path and discovers rock ‘n’ roll for herself. Monika‘s story and that of her two sisters are exemplary for many lives in a time when a woman‘s place was in the home to serve the needs of her husband. At the same time, however, the women of this generation were searching for a new female identity, and were inspired by the burgeoning demand for equal rights. This is the story about the generation of our own mothers and grandmothers - and a filmic call to arms for women‘s emancipation.
