Mayhem: Secret Lives Of Georgian Kings

Sunday 28 July 07:30 pm Double episode

The Georgian Kings belong to one of the most dysfunctional royal dynasties in British history. Loved and loathed by the public in equal measure, their scandals, back-stabbings, feuds and betrayals shaped an entire era of British history. This is a true-life succession story in the 18th Century.

Combining drama reconstruction with expert testimony from leading historians, Mayhem: Secret Lives of the Georgian Kings will turn everything you thought you knew about the Georgian era on its head.

Episode One: George I: Luck and Loathing

Catapulted onto the British throne by an extraordinary sequence of events, George the I’s life is overshadowed by marital turmoil and violent father-son fallouts. Arriving in Britain, he must navigate the social and political chaos of a nation still emerging from a period of bitter civil war.

Episode Two: George II: Warrior King

Famed for his military exploits, George II’s biggest battles were in fact with his family. George never recovered from the psychological scars left when his father exiled his mother. His bitter conflict with his father tarnishes his whole life, threatening the entire Hanoverian succession.

Stormy

Wednesday 31 July 7:30 pm

Stormy Daniels unexpectedly found herself in the international spotlight when news broke of a secret payment she received to keep quiet about an encounter with a certain US President. As she unwittingly became a household name overnight and as the story spread, everyone had an opinion about the former porn-star and her involvement with Donald Trump.

Defining Stormy Daniels is a challenge that many people, from reporters and lawyers to politicians, haven’t been able to do. Stormy is a captivating and unvarnished documentary that tells the truth about an unlikely American icon–this time, in her own words. Stormy shares her story, an account of events that have become part of American history, and the heartbreak and fallout that she has faced over the years. The film will take the audience behind the curtain as Stormy navigates being a mother, an artist, and an advocate who is working hard to reinvent herself, while still grappling with the bombshell that went off in her life 5 years ago. Real, raw and riveting, this documentary is the must-see event of the year.

After 10 premieres the previous week, SBS has 9 more for week 31. Brave up against Olympics.

Pretty impressive from SBS. Not often we see so many premieres against the Olympics.

We know that ratings will suffer across all the channels bar Nine during these two weeks over the Olympics, but at least there’s new content on SBS, giving viewers choice.

Production company Prospero posted about the premiere on its FB page last week. It will also show on Channel 5 UK at a later date.
