SBS (main channel) - Programs and Schedules

SBS food show Luke Nguyen’s Railway Vietnam was named best lifestyle programme at the 25th Asian Television Awards last night, which was held online due to COVID-19 pandemic. It was one of two Aussie winners at the event, the other was last year’s NBL Grand Final game one between Sydney Kings and Perth Wildcats, which won best live sports coverage award. (It was produced by IMG for ESPN and SBS Viceland)

How?

The NBL outsourced production to IMG?

Yes, but how can it win an Asian TV award?

The Asian TV Awards are open to programs from Australia. IIRC My Kitchen Rules and The Amazing Race Australia both won previously.

The NBL GF was up against fellow nominees martial arts event One Championship: Century Part II and 2019 Philippines Basketball Association (PBA) season. The organisers didn’t say how the category was judged on.

As of last night, repeats of Letters and Numbers are airing at 5pm, with new episodes of Jeopardy at 5.30pm on SBS. These Jeopardy episodes are then repeated on Viceland at 7.05pm. Interesting choice there. These episodes are a continuation of last week, so still a few years old.

Not a bad idea, goes very well with Mastermind afterwards. I’ll stick the Viceland airings though.

Same here. I’ll be sticking with the Viceland airings too.

Diana: Interview That Shocked The World

Sunday 14 February at 7:30 pm

On 20th November 1995, BBC Panorama broadcasted the scoop of the century.

A candid interview with Princess Diana in which she broke every protocol exposing traumas and scandal of life in the royal household.

25 years later, this film looks at how the broadcasting event of the century was orchestrated, what the interview revealed about modern society and new insights into the psychological portrait of Diana herself, a naive young woman who believed in the fairy-tale of her marriage only to lose her sense of self in its realities.

Channel 5 documentary, broadcast October 2020 in UK.

Australia In Colour - Season 2

Premiere Wednesday 10 March at 08:30 PM

This fascinating treasure trove of film from the 20th Century, digs into Australia’s social, political and economic history in order to make sense of the nature of modern Australia and its people. Shown in glorious colour for the first time, the footage pulsates with life and energy, reasserting its relevance to new generations and old.

Episode 1: Family

Soon after Federation, the family unit is buffeted by world conflicts, poverty and disease, but then new attitudes sweep in. Workplace laws are less restrictive on women, spouses no longer have to give a reason to divorce, and the contraceptive pill arrives, all of which leads to a loosened of rigid gender roles
