SBS Upfront information
Obviously the FIFA World Cup is the main feature of SBS’s line-up for 2026. However I also love its bold approach on programming.
The BBC has revealed a first look into docudrama Titanic Sinks Tonight. SBS has provided production funding, and will show the series in Australia.
8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is set for a major line-up shake-up, with Rob Beckett and Judi Love joining the series as regulars.
Beckett will take on the permanent role of team captain in the Channel 4 show’s upcoming 29th season, while Love will join the show as a regular returning guest.
8 Out of 10 Cats must be still doing strong on Viceland at 7.30pm weeknights. It is a good laugh to watch.
Good to have Rove Beckett as Team Captain. He’s been on the show quite regularly, and will fit in perfectly as the captain. Nice to have Judi Love appear as a regular too. Her recent appearances have been hilarious.
C21 reports SBS has become a pre-sale partner for a new 10-part Canada-UK co-production, Toronto Airport Uncovered.
SBS will show AMC series The Audacity, which premieres in the US on April 12.
UPDATE 30/1: AMC has released the first trailer.

Synopsis Every day close to 300 Australians are turned away from Homeless services. One of Australia’s most beloved personalities is on a mission to help them.
This week, as Melbourne hosts the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC), SBS announced it is in development with award-winning production company Mint Pictures on Bondi (working title), a landmark feature documentary examining the worst terror attack in modern Australian history.
Told through the voices of survivors, families of the victims, first responders and the ordinary people who stepped forward to help those attacked at the Chanukah by the Sea event, Bondi will draw on unparalleled access, allowing audiences to more deeply understand what happened on December 14 at Bondi Beach.
In response to an event that profoundly affected all Australians, SBS has moved to create a lasting record shaped by those most directly impacted. Anchored in firsthand testimony and archive, the documentary focuses on the human impact of the attack: the lives changed, the acts of courage that emerged, and the lasting effect on families and the broader community.
Head of SBS Unscripted Joseph Maxwell said: “This was an unprecedented event that shattered so many lives across Australia, and particularly the Australian Jewish community. We are committed to backing bold documentaries that inspire conversation and explore issues that go to the heart of SBS’s purpose. In the experienced hands of Mint Pictures our hope is this documentary will inspire meaningful discussion and be a lasting record of this terrible moment in our nation’s history.“
Mint Pictures Creative Director Dan Goldberg said: “With Bondi, our intention is to create a deeply human account shaped by the voices of survivors, families and first responders – not just of that horrific day but the spike in antisemitism that led up to it and shredded our social cohesion. We are honoured to be partnering with Australia’s multicultural network to develop a film that explores this tragic story with authenticity and sensitivity.”
