It was Sudden Death Saturday on Seven where, in the afternoon final, Hawthorn eliminated GWS in a close contest that ran overtime and delayed the news by 14 minutes. The average rating of 649k dominated afternoon viewing.

The second Elimination Final in primetime saw Gold Coast, with a last minute victory, eliminate Fremantle averaging 923k. That compares to 855k last year and sees last Thursday’s final still the top AFL game of the season so far.

The final NRL Saturday Night Footy of the season saw the Sharks beat the Bulldogs to almost 500k, down 30k on the previous week. Earlier on Nine, in the afternoon, Test Rugby saw the Wallabies win a thriller over Argentina with just over 300k watching.

In Queensland, Riverfire did very well to average 354k, up +100k form 246k year for its highest ever rating.

ABC’s line up of repeats had Beyond Paradise just make the top 10, up slightly to 369k with Midsomer Murders that followed down 25k to 325. Meanwhile on 10, Selling Houses Australia was the only prime time top 30 entry on a busy night. The rating of 290k was down 20k on the previous week.

Seven News, including a 30 minute bulletin at 5pm in Perth and a late start on the east coast was 50k ahead of Nine at 6pm in preliminary numbers. Earlier, Sunrise made the top 10 with 386k though that was down 40k on the previous week but still 110k ahead of Weekend Today.
