Demos are even better. Great to see 16-39 coming back to free to air for this. We don’t want the interest in the Olympics to die.

They don’t really have a choice. There’s Stan of course but that’s $15 extra on top of the existing contract so I’d say your average person who’s dipping in and out would be happy with Nine.
People will always go to where the sport is and just the the footy grand finals and state of origin etc they can only see it on FTA.

I mean that typically even with other sports the free to air numbers are on the soft side particular in the younger demos. It’s good they have no choice. There’s beauty in exclusive deals all within the same ecosystem. That includes Stan.

Good ratings for Nine. Took a $305m gamble snatching the Olympic rights away from 7 and it paid off for them despite the negative press
This number keeps being thrown around, but isn’t it for the entire package up to and including Brisbane 2032 (which is by a country mile where the majority of that fee is from), not to mention the x3 Winter Olympics within that. Paris’ portion of that like what, $25m? Probably same for LA. Winter combined like $50m. And Brisbane maybe $200m. Very much a guess but an idea.

Yes they’ll win these Olympic weeks but they already had momentum with Tipping Point 3pm and 5pm, which has led to the 6pm news.
They really didn’t need the Olympics.
On the other hand, 7 needs everything it can get to refresh itself.
Don’t think you can conclude that a 5 Olympics rights deal has “paid off” based on the ratings of Day 1 of the first Olympics in said deal…
