The second rugby test between the Wallabies and the British & Irish Lions averaged just over 800k. That was up on the First Test last week that had 772k for Nine.

The Great Outdoors was up 50k to above 500k for Seven while Part 1 of Mysteries Of The Pyramids that followed managed 333k. Later, Seven’s movie, The Da Vinci Code had just over 200k. The local AFL derby between Adelaide and Port Adelaide shown in South Australia did well to get 365k.

Grantchester was up slightly for ABC to 487k with a Midsomer Murders repeat on 286k.

Prime time on 10 saw The Dog House Australia improve to 222k with Love It Or List It Australia averaging 283k.

SBS also offered prime time sport with a comparative early start to Stage 20 of the Tour de France saw an average 178k tune in, down 25k on last week. In the afternoon, Seven’s Horse Racing just made the top 30 with 105k .

At breakfast, Weekend Today, that has been receiving a bit more promotion lately missed the top 20 for only the second time this year.

Rugby Australia will be relieved that the ratings for Wallabies v Lions test match were up from last week.

Did Seven viewers think they had switched on SBS accidently?

The AFL was also the WA local derby wasn’t it?

According to the schedule, that game started at 2pm in Perth or 4pm AEST, so I assumed that Seven coded that as AFL Afternoon rather than night; perhaps they fudged the name.

That’s a big number for 1 match only airing in SA. I have feeling this is a combined ratings for Qclash, Western Derby & SA Showdown. Maybe 7 didn’t code them properly.

@TV.Cynic do you know what the ratings were for 7AFL Saturday Night on 10th May, that was the 1st showdown. If that had 300k then this could be believable.

I agree the number looks really high for one game in one state; but Seven are really stretching things to call a game with a 2:15pm kick off Night Football.

Absolutely 0 chance those figures include the q-clash. That game started at 1pm

7 Perth Broadcast ran 1.30 to 6pm

Its not the first time theyve done this with late afternoon matches from WA . This rating almost certainly includes the Western Derby and the Showdown. Game started at 2pm WA (3pm AEST), finishing at 5pm WA (6pm AEST)

Figures are about right for the combo. 365k would smash the previous records for either the Showdown and Derby

QLD derby not included, too early in the day

Also the highest ratings since COVID

The coding of the game is a day game though. Also, the wa broadcast of the western derby ended at 5pm, with a post show that started afterwards. There’s no way a program that ran from 2-5pm would register as a night game, especially as the q-clash ended an hour before and was considered too early.

At least it’s not as bad as the period when NFL games played on Saturday’s which technically came under the Thursday Night Football rights package were billed like this:

365k in adelaide is insane given its AFL grand final ratings. In fact, its 65k above the last grand final. There has to be a coding error involved here, but the fact is both the WA derby and Queensland derby were both afternoon games. Given the last Showdown had just shy of 200k, and the WA derby generates about the same, its fair to say 7 somehow included both programs, and maybe they used the excuse of it being a twilight in the eastern states as a reason for that, as the WA derby finished around 7:30pm in Sydney. But there’s absolutely no way the Q-clash is involved in here, because that was a 1pm game.
