The show’s insta page gives me a good feeling about it.
Promotion there seems to be going nicely.
On HYBPA and on The Front Bar (and Santo Sam and Ed’s Cup Fever) Pang is great, as he bounces of “the vibe” of the others.
I didn’t watch enough, like many, for ADbc. So not sure he he was going solo. For the Logies, reading off the autocue, was okay. Ad-libbed, great. So am hoping he gets the chance to adlib on the new show.
Yeah I just don’t feel excited about it like I did 6 months ago. I know we were never promised a chat show but this is feeling like it’s going to be more of a lighter version of the weekly with Charlie Pickering.
Peter Ford said on 3AW this morning that Jack Thompson would be the first guest on tonight’s premiere.
As a general rule Sam Pang Tonight won’t be disclosing their guests each week, preferring viewers to tune in to be surprised.
However, on radio last week, Pang confirmed Jack Thompson would be a guest on night one.
He also indicated Kitty Flanagan and “the kid from Boy Swallows Universe” (presumably Felix Cameron and not Lee Tiger Halley?) would also feature this season.
The city backdrop of Sam Pang Tonight looks so real…
Is it supposed to be?
Some good jokes but you can tell it’s a small audience. The atmosphere isn’t there. Needs to be more vibrant in a larger studio. A band would’ve been good too in this format.
It looks very similar to the one used on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Dunno how I feel about this so far
It has potential. The clips are good. Follow the Cheap Seats model.
It’s a little flat. They need some atmosphere.
Why is Dave Thornton there standing in the middle of the set?
Ohh Deano from Nova getting a run.
Do think that it perhaps does need a larger audience, or perhaps a more warmed up one
I think the guest should of been someone who would keep younger people come back for the next episode or someone more known or recent etc
I like it so far, despite the obviously constrained 10 budget. Maybe just a few less The Project style panning shots needed. Lots of US shows just have fairly static shots during interviews.
Think this format of interview is great too. Jack Thompson is a great guest, but hope they can luck into some more current, maybe even international guests. Rove style.
The high shots of the audience looking onto the stage makes it look like an up-late version of The Project. Small.
The format is simple. The opening two segments were okay. Some banter with this week’s announcer (Dave Taunton) was good. Glad he got his Conrad Sewell and two And Do jokes out of the way. lol.
The Jack Thompson interview was better.
