I’ve been watching too… hoping for some ‘wow’ moments.

Channel 31 called, they want their show and set back. The set looks like something from Skithouse.

Has potential and love the suggestion of being recorded and edited to make it tighter but when your guests / announcers so far are funnier or more natural than the host - gotta wonder.

Sam Pang Tonight Confirmed For Second 2025 Season.

It’s been a long time between drinks for Australian tonight shows, but this year, Network 10 is giving audiences a double shot: that’s right, Sam Pang Tonight is coming back for season two.

Sam Pang Tonight will bookend the year with a fresh eight-episode run in late 2025. Expect more laughs as Sam takes on the week’s news and welcomes a bunch more guests, including local legends, engaging experts, and comedy mates playing the part of Special Guest Announcer. Will the crowd-favourite Wheel of Segments return? Hard to say, but turns out there’s no shortage of people willing to be pushed into a Christmas tree.

Sam Pang said: “I’m thrilled to be coming back for Season 2. I’m very grateful to Channel 10 for their support and commitment to the show and giving me the opportunity to continue doing something I love.”

Daniel Monaghan, Senior Vice President Content & Programming said: “It’s always a thrill to share a fresh new format with viewers, and we’re absolutely delighted with the success of Sam Pang Tonight. Aussies are loving Sam’s signature comedy style so it’s no surprise Sam Pang Tonight was 10’s biggest new show launch since 2022. We’re excited to keep the laughs rolling with a second season confirmed for the back end of 2025.”

See why Network 10 is the home of comedy when the current season of Sam Pang Tonight continues tonight at 8.40pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Is it possible that Sam Pang Tonight will bookend the upcoming season of Have You Been Paying Attention? (Assuming HYBPA finishes on the last Monday in October)

I’d say that’s exactly what’s happening

Jingle some segments, if they go with the Christmas tree gag again ffs.

It’s quite clear that 10 hasn’t learned from past mistakes (cough Gladiators cough). Regardless of whether they’re in need of programming, they shouldn’t blindly renew a series like this.

Let the show actually have a chance to find an audience during its initial run—and if it does, then renew it.

Disagree. This renewal should give some rope for production to experiment.

Ideally the second season should seek a proper venue. Somewhere like the fairfax studio in Southbank. Let it breathe and get some good guests in.

What has Gladiators got to do with anything? Assuming you’re talking about the reboot, but it’s not even in the same ballpark genre wise and they didn’t give it a second season thank god.

In any case, a second season of 8 eps was always planned at the back half of the year if Sam wanted it and the network were happy - and they clearly are. Yes, the show still needs to find its grove and Sam to settle in etc, but I don’t think they’re blindly renewing this.

They’re doubling down on local content and in the comedy space, which is exactly where they should be. You also can’t find an audience if you’re not investing in more of it and giving it a chance to improve/grow.

Yes, I fully acknowledge all the valid points you’ve raised. However, my core argument remains: Network 10 appears to be handing this show a renewal primarily because they’re in urgent need of content.

They don’t truly know whether it’s a genuine hit yet—it’s only midway through its initial run. And frankly, unless you’re already tuned into whatever else 10 is airing, there’s very little drawing viewers to either the show itself or the network as a whole, let alone encouraging them to stick around.

In my view, Paramount has made the wrong call here. You wouldn’t see CBS or Channel 5 taking this kind of gamble, would you?

Making an announcement about a renewal might encourage voewers to stick with it and attract some new ones. If ratings fall off the cliff, they can always change their mind later. It’s happened before.

Its rating pretty decently and its a safe pair of hands for that timeslot. Why wouldn’t you renew?

I think you’re buying in to the network spin here.

As I said, the second batch of episodes later in the year was already on the cards - this is just public confirmation to put some good publicity out there, show they’re invested in it and Sam etc.

An even worse strategy would be to let the show play out in the next month with it hanging around out there that they hadn’t committed to more.

Show needs some work editorially, and get a director who knows how to direct a talk show, but these shows need time. 10 clearly has it, and it is rating fine.

Allowing it to play out would have at least provided 10 with the evidence needed to justify a renewal.

Instead, 10 have handed the show something it neither deserved nor earned, and are now committed to throwing more money at a woefully underdeveloped project that doesn’t resemble what was originally pitched
