Sale of Southern Cross Television assets to Ten/ADH

No reason for it to be a breach. The list provides FTA with first choice to take on those events.

They’ll probably be launching a new seperate channel for all of that type of content. Keep the main ones for normal news.

Growing? Unlikely. Critical? To whom?

That’s a quote from Morrison via killy06.

So Network 7 in the regions falls fully under ADT & Network 10 outside Spencer Gulf & Broken Hill fall under a 50/50 Ten-ADT ownership.

SCA Spencer Gulf still made a post about their TV Classifieds today despite the sale to ADH. I know it’ll take a bit to finalise the sale, but still.

When the 3-agg market SCA 10 stations being sold to Network 10 was announced late last year, I never saw another SCA ad for Advertise With Us or anything like that. And that was on 10 Wollongong. Before that announcement I would see ads for SCA 10 Advertising Packages. And that was in early December. January of this year, 10 Wollongong again, but this time, no SCA 10 Advertising Packages ads.

Nope
TDT will remain jointly owned with WIN

DTD will remain jointly owned with Nine

CTD will remain jointly owned with Imparja

Only thing that’s changing is the 50% share that SCA has is transferring to ADH

So 10 need to keep their WIN, Nine & Imparja operations affiliated with them to stay afloat in these markets?
Rough, especially as I can’t see Nine being too happy about this.

The old ABT/ABA days are well over when any potential purchaser had to pass a public hearing process to determine if they were fit and proper to purchase with a commitment to evenly balanced news coverage and local production. That ended in the early 1990s.

I wonder how long sky news will last from this Monday, I’m guessing until the contract expires?

Bring those days back.

Both AHD and the other owner of each station (WIN, Nine or Imparja) could elect to close the station down, but I say the stations will keep operating , otherwise I doubt AHD would’ve brough the 50% share if they were to just wound up operations

could very well be an automated post

Then. Why. Did. You. Edit. The. Wikipedia. Page??

The sale hasn’t magically happened today just because it was announced.

While I am saying they probably will elect to close down money-losing ventures like DTD and TDT, this could also create a problem for viewers who rely on terrestrial television. Viewers in places like Launceston and Devonport will have really good internet connectivity for Channel 10 via 10play, but viewers in really remote areas may not have good internet connection, so normal TV is how they watch Channel 10.

If anything, just convert the stations into metro repeaters, and not only will money be saved, viewers will still be able to watch Channel 10, even though they may start seeing Perth ads, but I can’t imagine too many viewers really caring about this. If viewers can still watch Channel 10, even if it’s a simple metro translator, then that’s what matters. Their viewing choice won’t be so restricted.

So OK while the local feeds may end and these 10 stations get shut down as local stations, they would be turned into metro repeaters of 10 Perth in order to continue providing entertainment for viewers in remote areas. Otherwise, if they were shut down completely, it would be the beginning of the end for Network 10 in Regional Australia outside of the 3-agg market.

Well it’s still business as usual. It’s not like everything just stops.

Your conduct is very disrespectful to the staff who are part of this pending sale.

Editing the Wiki page when the sale isn’t even finalised? Wow.

No.

The anti-siphoning legislation requires " (ii) the television broadcasting services of that licensee, or of those licensees, cover a total of more than 50% of the Australian population." in order to buy rights under the law.

Basically, it’s a way of requiring that a metro broadcaster buys the rights, so you couldn’t have a situation of getting ITQ to purchase the national rights to NRL, showing 4 games a week into Mt Isa FTA, but the rest of the country having to get it from Foxtel.

As Nine, Seven and Ten all cover more than 50% of the country using just their O&O stations, any affiliates are a bonus, not a requirement.

Thinking of you and your team @Techster during this uncertain transition period. Hoping it works out well for you all.

What’s the point in buying the stations to then just close them down - it would mean no point in spending the extra money.

They still need transmission equipment, playout, etc to get the feeds into the regions - that’s one of the main costs in addition to the rights to the content.
