These are unreasonable requests.
What’s new? The Kremlin always been an aggressive, arrogant government historically, always thinking they’re superior to ‘The West’ and all the previous Soviet states.
Nothing I’m just stating it so people don’t think Ukraine are going to agree to that.
And I wouldn’t trust Russia to stop fighting even if Ukraine agrees to those conditions. Those running the Kremlin (including Putin) are a bunch of buffoons with overinflated egos and opinions of their pitiful organisation.
Russia claims it will stop the war immediately if Ukraine agrees to: - cease military action
Russia is demanding Ukraine cease military action?!
If Ukraine do agree to them then they have the power they want and of course they would use their military to punish those going against the government. Essentially if they agreed Ukraine become Belarus.
Hope ukraine rip up that offer, crazy precedent if a country can get away with taking their neighbours territory, or changing their constitution by force in the 21st century. I would be concerned though that it is the easy out tactic from Putin. When they don’t accept it, Russia will think they can carpet bomb ukraine and blame Zelenskyy for it.
I do wonder if Ukraine would be ok with a UN backed referendum for the far East Donbass region, the part that was occupied by separatists pre-war. Sounds like its more trouble than its worth. can’t imagine they would be too keen to give up the whole Luhansk and Donetsk, that’s where the largest oil and gas reserves are that could turn around Ukraines’s fortunes. no doubt factored into Putins calculation.
Definitely unreasonable. It is Russia who initiated military action against Ukraine but continued to blame the latter for it.
As a member of Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, Russia has pledged to oppose all forms of separatism in Central Asia where several SCO member countries (former Soviet republics) are located. But what happened in eastern Ukraine in recent years is also separatism to suit Russia’s interests.
It’s happened more often than we think though. Just one example is the way the US did with Afghanistan.
Looks like a good price too. I might have my first ever chicken Kyiv tonight.
Boeing and Airbus too? Damn, maybe we’ll see some Ilyushin IL-96-400Ms.
finally, someone does a poster about this!
This is the best article I’ve seen so far about the companies that have pulled out of Russia
Inevitably followed by a collective loss of minds by morons on social media who think this is some kind of move towards wokeness.
I’ve never understood the objection to rename things to their “true” name (especially things named after places) not some kind of bastardised anglicised or colonial name.
Woolies often have them half price - they’re not a particularly hard thing to make (garlic/herbed butter inside a crumbed chicken thigh, but can recommend.
The Woolies ones take anywhere between 15 and 20 minutes in the oven at ~200c #BaccoCooksDinner
It’s going to be hard for Russian airlines to get replacement parts for their planes in the future.
It could be like Iran, US government sanctions allow sales of spare parts for safety I believe
And there are still so many of those bastardised anglicised names out there. There are so many words in English which have been translated incorrectly but it’s way too late to change them.
I was just thinking this the other day with Encephalitis in the news. The word comes from the Greek word for Head which is Kefali. So how did it end up spelt Cephali in a medical term and then pronounced as en-sef-uh-LIE-tis?
Then there’s Uranus which is everyone’s childish joke for the pronunciation YOUR-anus. The word comes from the Greek God Ouranos which should be pronounced oo-rah-NOS.
