No doubt Nine and Seven will have rolling coverage of the tour, with ABC News crossing to major ceremonial aspects (major speeches, 21 gun salute, etc).

How did the media cover the 2011 Royal Tour? I know in 2014 they had rolling coverage of some parts of Wills and Kates tour, and in 2018 there was nonstop coverage of Meghan and Harry.

Good to see that the only time the King comes to Australia during his reign is for 72 hours of official engagements.

That’s all the time Australia deserves from the monarch.

At least they remembered Canberra and Sydney - the rest of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and all the other realms are still waiting.

They’re only coming here because of CHOGM in Samoa - otherwise I don’t think they’d bother coming here either.

Exactly - Canberra is just a pop-in, and Sydney is a quick holiday stop.

Heard mention on Seven yesterday that "there were calls for’ the Royals to attend the races to watch the running of the King Charles III Stakes 2024 (on October 19, 2024 at Randwick Racecourse).

This has been suggested as a possibility when the tour was first announced. I’m sure Seven would love it.

Ahead of his visit later this week, Sydney’s Seven News just had a long piece of King Charles and his various visits to Sydney and Australia. It was longer than their usual news story.

Are they promoting the bobblehead souvenirs for the royal visit?

Not yet, but you can get a taxpayer funded portrait of the King and Queen through your local MP or one of your state/territory’s senators:

Australians can request printed versions of the portraits through their Federal Member of the House of Representatives or Senator in their state or territory.

King Charles could put the royal back into Royal Randwick. With no official engagement planned on Everest Day, the door is open for him to attend the race meeting.

King Charles III could make a possible 11th hour appearance at Sydney’s biggest race meeting featuring the $20 million The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
