Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal

That’s wrong as well. She didn’t work on the appeal during her time at Nine.

Mature.

Well give it up mate. It’s quite clear what MelbTV meant.

Wasn’t to me. There’s been plenty of Good Friday Appeals without Jen. I’m more concerned about the continued decline in coverage we’re seeing this year and will it have an effect on donations.

No need for the conga line of eye rolls.

As previously discussed, the GFA coverage has changed this year in that it doesn’t begin until 12pm. The morning rolling coverage has been replaced by crosses to the hospital during Sunrise & The Morning Show

I’m aware, but why have they reduced the coverage? It’s only scheduled to go 8 hours today. 3 years ago it was 15 hours.

If Seven don’t want to televise it, give it to Nine or Ten.

I think it’s due to Seven’s cost-cutting.

Let’s hope they break the record, if not questions will be raised.

There better be some big cheque presentations later in the day!

Really not good if this is the case. HSV7 have gone a great job supporting this over 60 years, but if they cannot commit to full coverage due to costs and the AFL, then another channel will need to pick this up.

As the article says, the 1960 appeal raised £236,089 5s 7d ($472,178) but it would be a decade before the record total would be beaten again ($503,857 in 1970). So I won’t be surprised if this year’s amount is lower than last year’s $18,043,251.55. Last time the Appeal raised less money than the previous year was 1992 ($4,423,699.64) which was a tad lower than 1991’s $4,424,257.53.

Reckon Nine would pick up the rights to the Good Friday Appeal if Seven were to ever give up on it? They’ve launched local telethons (albeit on a smaller scale to even the reduced airtime of the GFA) in both NSW and Queensland this decade, so poaching the Good Friday Appeal would help boost the profile of the network in Victoria.

Modern Ten (as opposed to pre-1990s Ten) would never run a local telethon because this network doesn’t really do any form of market-specific local programming anymore outside of the weekday 5pm news when it’s not on holidays.
