Regional Radio Ratings

MixFM losing number one. SeaFM ouch. Not the day at GSL.

A big switch from Sea to Hot while triple j goes up 2 to be not far behind the commercials.

So hard to judge the market when +30% of listeners aren’t represented and that goes up to +50% in +65s.

The music now is terrible on Mix that’s why

The sad part is, MixFM and SeaFM are the two stations with LOCAL logs.

Do what the market needs!

Think Hot91 is programmed in the Sunshine Coast (despite not being a ā€œlocalā€ log per se)

For the first time since 2024, we’re off to the Central Coast of NSW:

Hit 101.3 narrowly took out the top spot with 18.8% (+6.0 from 2024), followed by Triple M with 18.6% (+3.7), former #1 Star 104.5 with 18.5% (+0.6), and ABC Central Coast with 7.2% (+2.2). Of the Sydney commercial FM stations, Smooth is the highest rating with 2.5% (+0.4), followed by KIIS with 2.0% (-5.7), and 2Day with 1.5% (+1.1).

In the demos, Hit is #1 in the under-40s, with Triple M topping the 40-64s, and ABC Central Coast #1 in the 65+.

In breakfast, Hit’s Jess & Rohan topped the slot with 21.3% (+6.8), followed by Triple M’s Paddy & Maz with 18.4% (+5.0), and Star’s Gina & Matty with 17.9% (-0.6). In drive, Hit’s Carrie & Tommy won the slot with 22.6% (+6.5), followed by Triple M’s Rush Hour with 20.1% (+5.2), and Star’s Meg Alexander with 16.8% (-1.9).

The ā€œOther Stationsā€ share this survey is at 22.2%, down 3.8 from 2024.

Most of the central/wide bay central area seem to have Triple M number 1, followed by Hit.. good to see Hitz maintaining number 1 in Bundy.

Simply outstanding! When was the last time SCA were number 1 & 2 on the Coast? Maybe the switch to drop some older tracks at Star104.5 didn’t pay off? What happened there?

A shame in a way - as it’s feeding the big bosses that networking the heck out of a station can pay dividends…

The closest survey I’ve seen for a long time!

And oddly Hit is the only commercial FM station on the coast with no live or locally made content. Shouldn’t get rewarded for that!

Perhaps Star 104.5 needs to drive home it’s locally focussed programming more (if not already).

Aren’t they local 9am-midday weekdays?

Yes, but is voice tracked from Port Macquarie apparently.

Back in 2012, when Hit was still Sea FM & Triple M was still 2GO.

Oddly enough, Star did went up 6.4 in the 55-64s & up 4.2 in the 65+. Triple M went down 1.7 & 3.4 in those same respective demos.

That’s good news if it’s live and local in the mornings again…

As I recall there was speculation/rumours (?) that SCA were looking to close down their Central Coast studios and do any local programs out of Newcastle? Not sure if that’s still on the cards or not (hopefully not).

And Triple M went up in the 10-17. Some very strange numbers in this result, similar to Sunshine Coast a couple of weeks ago.

Probably a by-product of a small sample size.. probably only takes a handful of respondents to change the results significantly like that.

I’ve always had some question marks about some of these regional surveys.

Really clutching at straws there - a 4 point jump 10-17 makes sense when there’s a larger jump in 40-54 year olds (as seen with Hit). 10 year olds aren’t listening to FM radio en masse out of choice.

The Sunshine Coast surveys are bizarre given how much fluctuation they’ve had year on year without any significant change in format or personalities. That is a prime example of small sample sizes distorting the results.

Never happened, never will - compliance makes that impossible. Mornings is live and local.

Just needs to be 3 hours produced of locally relevant programming, where it’s presented from or if it’s live doesn’t matter.
