I’d much rather see Wave reformat and take the 2ST log, given there isn’t much crossover there in terms of signal coverage (around Wollongong at least, unlike with Power FM).
Yes I kind of agree that Mix has skewed too young recently. The older stuff they do play isn’t that great either. In short they need to fix the music
Mix is current on a month of 80s music.
Yes I’m not sure that’s the answer either, having a whole month of one decade. It can sound quite repetitive actually. They need a mix of mostly 80s and 90s songs with some new music from selected artists.
Agree, as much as I love the 80s.
And a few 70s tracks added in too.
Not strictly 80s, currently playing Hozier as I type.
I think it only at certain times of the day - excludes breakfast and drive perhaps??
Back in the day Mix FM’s 80’s August was 80’s from 8am to 6pm daily.
2 months ago, when we were visiting family on the Sunshine Coast, we found Hot was the pick of all stations. They seemed to have a good variety of music from the 80’s to Now.
I agree with the above, I found Mix a bit bland for my liking.
Townsville with no Pricey, ARN now have the heritage breakfast show of the commercials (ABC the longest running overall), that will be interesting.
After nearly a month-long absence of regional radio ratings, we’re off to Kalgoorlie, the centre of the Goldfields region of WA:
Hit remain on top with 40.5% (-5.8 from 2021), followed by Triple M with 22.1% (-0.3), JJJ with 12.6% (-0.9), and ABC Goldfields with 12.5% (+4.3).
In the demos, Hit is #1 in the under-55s, with Triple M dominating in the 55-64s, and ABC Goldfields the same in the 65+.
In breakfast, Hit’s Allan & Carly dominate with 42.5% (-4.9), followed by Triple M’s Abbey Cullen with 20% (-1.0), and ABC Goldfields’ Ivo da Silva with 14.1% (+3.8). In drive, Hit’s Carrie & Tommy dominate with 40.6% (-5.1), followed by Triple M’s The Drive Home with Cliff with 19.2% (-2.8), and JJJ’s Tyrone & Abby with 15.1% (-2.3).
The “Other Stations” share is at 7.6%, up 0.3 from 2021.
After another nearly month-long absence of regional radio ratings, we’re heading back to the eastern half of the country to the 2nd largest city in the Apple Isle.
Chilli remain on top with 31.3% (-0.5 from 2021), followed by LAFM with 20.3% (+3.5), ABC Northern Tasmania with 16.3% (-0.8), and JJJ with 12% (-2.7).
In the demos, Chilli is #1 in the under-55s, with LAFM topping the 55-64s, and ABC Northern Tasmania #1 in the 65+.
In breakfast, Chilli’s Adam & Issy is #1 with 34.2% (+1.3), followed by ABC Northern Tasmania’s Kim Napier with 17.6% (-1.8), LAFM’s The Richard Perno Show with 17.2% (+2.6), and JJJ’s Concetta & Luka with 12.2% (-3.3). In drive, Will & Woody on Chilli is #1 with 34.2% (+3.0), followed by LAFM’s The Home Run with Shayne with 21.4% (+4.0), JJJ’s Tyrone & Abby with 16.3% (-4.2), and ABC Northern Tasmania’s André Leslie with 11.4% (-1.4).
The “Other Stations” share this survey is at 11.8%, down 0.2 from 2021.
Today, we’re off to Townsville:
Triple M remain on top with 21.4% (+1.2 from last year), followed by Hit with 19.5% (+0.6), Power 100 with 14.2% (+3.0), and Star with 12.3% (-2.4).
In the demos, Hit is #1 in the under-40s, whilst Triple M tops the 40+.
In breakfast, Triple M’s Cliffo & Kate is #1 with 22.2% (+1.9), followed by Hit’s Bronte & Lakey from the Gold Coast with 20.1% (+1.0), Power 100’s Archie & Donny with 13.2% (+1.6), and Star’s Jack & Dannii with 12% (-3.9).
I feel like Star would do better in Townsville if it differentiated itself more from Hit. The Townsville market is different from Mackay and Cairns in that it has Power. I think 106.3 should go softer AC and bridge the gap more between Triple M and Hit.
No one daring mention Power went up 3 by softening their rock image?
Just looked at their playlist, it doesn’t seem to have softened that much to me.
I wouldn’t say they’ve softened, rather, they’re now taking the generic “Better Music & More Of It” log from ARN Regional.
Looking at Lava, Power 100 isn’t taking the generic “Better Music & More Of It” log, in which its playlist is still rock-based. I’ll post a log of it over in the relevant thread.
Oh wow! Yet their positioner is that?
Good on them for taking a different (hopefully a local) log.

Yes it’s definitely still a different log.
