Regional Radio Ratings

I don’t think it will be very successful for the stations that previously took Hadley. Some have taken him since Laws left 2UE.

Today, we’re having to the Top End: http://www.radioalive.com.au/RA/media/General/Homepage%20banners/DARWIN-XTRA-INSIGHTS-PUBLIC-SURVEY-RESULT.pdf?ext=.pdf

Hot 100 is the #1 station in Darwin with 39.2% (+4.8 from 2017), well ahead of sister station Mix 104.9, who scored 21.6% (-0.9), followed by ABC Radio Darwin at 12.5% (-1.5) & JJJ with 8.8% (-0.9). The DAB+ stations are also listed, with Double J the highest rating at 0.3%.

In the demos, Hot 100 is #1 in the under-40s, with Mix 104.9 topping the 40-64s, and ABC Darwin leading in the 65+.

The “Other Stations” share is at 12.7%, which is up from 12.4% in 2017, most of which would be towards Territory FM.

Seems a little low for Territory FM to me.

We know the regional ratings are flawed. When people are surveyed it is the station they most listen to for each session that gets recorded. The metro ratings record listening every 15 mins (iirc), so if they listen to more than one station at Breakfast all of the stations they are listening to get recorded on the survey.

Amazing results for Grants - biggest radio duopoly in Darwin!

I agree. I don’t believe those results.
How are these region surveys done?

Not exactly a cultured mob up there, judging by the ratings for Radio National, Classic FM and Jazz.

Maybe their more mainstream tastes account for the low “Other” share, which isn’t just 104one, but Indigenous station First Nations Radio 94.5 and Christian station 97seven as well.

Radio ratings have been released in Esperance: http://www.radioalive.com.au/RA/media/General/Documents/Surveys%20for%20Regional/ESPERANCE-XTRA-INSIGHTS-PUBLIC-SURVEY-RESULT_1.pdf?ext=.pdf

Hit 102.3 remains at #1 with 28% (+2.4 from 2017), followed by Triple M with 24% (+1.0), ABC Esperance with 13% (-7.4) & JJJ with 11.5% (+5.0).

No demo breakdowns are seen on the results.

No one listens to the wireless in Esperance in the evenings?

Triple J does well for a 500 watt self help relay (which is probably also in mono)

What’s with the 3 different ABC stations? Just very different coverage areas to the commercial stations?

They all appear to have some overlap with the Esperance licence area.

ABC Esperance = 6ED on 837
ABC Goldfields (Kalgoorlie) = 6GF on 648
ABC Great Southern (Wagin) = 6WA on 558

Local breakfast on each I think, but the remainder of the day would be the same content.

I read on another site that the sample was too small to include nightime figures.

Triple M is now caught nicely between Power 100 and Star.

I know some SCA fans won’t agree, but the re-brand from 4TO didn’t help!

Not to mention that Townsville already has a decent rock station in Power 100, which is said to have a more superior playlist to that of Triple M.
