Regional Affiliation Swap 2021

I love that the TDT site has a 10 logo and clicking on it goes to a big 9 logo - as well as a great ad about the new channel 9Life coming soon!

The two in the middle aren’t so bad despite being the wrong logos but then the Ten Metro link goes to ten.com.au which redirects to tenplay.com.au with then redirects to 10play.com.au

SCA are currently recruiting staff in Hobart and Launceston:

SCA is hiring journalists for “television news updates”, and video editors/directors. Could this be for news updates on the forthcoming SCA 10 that will replace the Local News on the departing SCA Nine?

Almost certainly. There’s no other reason for them to be beefing up their operations.
Interesting that it appears that the updates will be split between Hobart and Launceston. Probably necessary due to studio limitations at both.

News for Cairns, Canberra & Bendigo… pre-recorded from Tasmania

Ah yes, because the days of being pre-recorded in Canberra worked out so well for them…

In all seriousness though, hopefully the production values of the teams in Hobart and Launceston will rub off on the noodle updates. Despite being very bare-bones products, the noodle updates for Central and Darwin at least look like news instead of a university journalism project.

… yes I noticed these job ads … it’s a bit of a worry that SCA have taken to calling the positions Operations Technician presumably to avoid paying the higher rate applicable for an editor or director …

Please don’t slander uni journalism

SCA’s TV operations are such a sad state of affairs. Makes it all the impressive that Nightly News on 7 Tasmania (urgh, the name!) is still a decent product.

It’s a heritage service from pre-aggregation I’m guessing in Tassie?

Ten Capital News was also a very slick product for it’s time. They have a history of providing quality news services in their heritage areas but obviously that’s moot now.

Hopefully with better grammar than whoever wrote this JD.

Southern Cross Austereo and Network 10 are ploughing ahead on making ready to sign an affiliation agreement, with Southern Cross already selling advertising packages for Network 10 programs in regional areas.

Great! At least SCA wont go black! Now all we have to wait for is the joint-venture stations!

The deal still hasn’t been signed. I wonder what the sticking points are?

I’m guessing money.

Yes I’d say how much SCA will pay Ten would be at the negotiation table.

Looks like SCA will revert back to News updates so it’s unlikely we’ll see anything near 50% to pay for news services like the Nine agreement. Also the lack of Sport should make the level fall too.

I’m curious if WIN will bring back the nine dots in there branding interesting times ahead…

I know it has been mention about taking the nine branding but I have only read this by one source.

Presentation should stay the same as the main affiliate, Win can just air their own idents etc to show viewers they’re watching on the Win Network as they usually would. Keep it simple

This is WIN we are talking about… #mappy

Speaking of affiliation swap…when does the bombardment of advertising start? We must prepare the battle stations for switchover overload.
