Ratings: Reno Rumble drags Nine down to third place

The Nine Network finished in third place on Tuesday as its struggling renovation show Reno Rumble returned another disastrous ratings result with an audience of just 370,000 metro viewers.

Last night’s number equalled Monday’s viewership and was down on the previous week that had 397,000. That saw Nine’s network share fall to 20.2% behind Ten’s 20.5% and 14% behind Seven that lifted to 34.1%. ABC also lost ground to 17.3% while SBS was up slightly to 7.8%. Seven won all three younger demographic groups with Ten in second place.

My Kitchen Rules held onto the number one spot with 1,373,000 while Seven News surged to 1,143,000 at 6pm ahead in all markets except Brisbane before slipping to 1,104,000 at 6.30pm. Home and Away recovered to 848,000 with Seven Year Switch improving to 826,000 after dropping to 760,000 the previous week. The premiere of Best Bits grabbed 364,000 at 10pm while The Chase had 624,000 and 402,000 in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, NCIS was Ten’s best performer on 586,000. Earlier, The Project had 577,000 and 451,000, Family Feud 537,000 and Ten Eyewitness News 510,000. Bondi Rescue (520,000) and Territory Cops (519,000) were steady with NCIS Los Angles improving to 498,000. An encore of Scorpion then had 191,000.

Nine News (1,020,000 and 989,000) and A Current Affair (908,000) made the top ten for Nine with the afternoon’s Hot Seat next best on 551,000. Reno Rumble (370,000) offered a poor lead in to movies What Happens in Vegas (179,000 – 3 cities) and Knight and Day (104,000 – 2 cities).

ABC News (836,000) and 7:30 (658,000) took top ten positions with Catalyst slipping this week to 625,000. Keeping Australia Alive improved to 577,000 after disappointing results in earlier episodes with Foreign Correspondent averaging 418,000 to be next best.

Over on SBS, the FIFA World Cup Qualifier had 312,000 (208,000 post match) with Great Continental Railway Journeys on 244,000 in four markets.

At breakfast, Today had 315,000 ahead of Sunrise (281,000) and ABC News Breakfast (92,000 and 46,000). Later, The Morning Show had 170,000, Today Extra 127,000 with Studio 10 on 62,000.
